Why Anti-Christian Posts are a Pain

!Fluffy!

Lacking Common Sense
Because they are generally hostile and unproductive

Because there are so many of them, and they all seem to sound the same after a while

Because they always seem to be full of broad-brush, unoriginal overgeneralizations

Because they are divisive and of little value at reaching mutual understanding

Because they are attacks rather than attempts to understand

Because I just keep wanting to say: What's yr damage, bro?

no religion really gets attacked moreso than any other... in fact, no belief system really gets attacked more than anything else. For every idea, there's an opposing idea. ;)

If you like your ideas, prepare to defend them, because although there may be those who stand with you, there will be just as many who stand against you.

What if "anti-Christians" honestly believe they are trying to "save" "Christians" from something?

How is that different than "pro-Christian" posts extolling the virutes of Christian ideology as the way to "save" non-Christians?

If your just talking about christiany here, then you reap what you sow.

Sorry but I've seen christians attack other peoples belief all the time, I'm not talking about what is on here but in general.

'tis one thing to extol, 'tis another to attack

Whatever. So be a man and start another thread byoching about it like I did!

Thanks for sticking to the subject, btw. Your opinion is yours, mine is mine.

And I think anti-Christian threads are moronic.

yeah, but everyone's been attacked by one extremist or another, i say just drop the subject all together and just work on making yourself a better person instead of complaining about being attacked.... but for some, that's just too difficult i suppose

I've read much more demeaning things from both "sides," and little of it was as well-written. :)

But aside from that, telling people that they are under the sway of evil demons and must "believe" in the sacred words to be saved from an eternity in Hell is no less inconsiderate.

There's a fine line that depends entirely on the perspective. The Christian accusing everyone else of being deluded sinners will always subjectively believe that he or she is extolling rather than attacking. One might have a difficult time seeing the problem if one agrees with the essential sentiment being expressed (even if one knows to be more tactful in presenting such extolling/attacking ;)).

That's usually my response and it goes to what comprehend was saying too.

OK, so you've decided that Christianity isn't for you. Fine. But then why all the time and energy dedicated to justifying your position? It's like someone who has left a failed marriage and spends all their time telling you about how awful their spouse was. Are you trying to convince others of the correctness of your view - if so, why? - or are you trying to convince yourself? And if so, get over it. Find a therapist or something.

Define yourself by what you love, affirm, uphold. Not by what you hate, reject, put down. The latter only leaves you with an empty shell.

It's not different. I have no tolerance for either.

The thing that makes the former even more annoying however is that they are often blind to the fact that they're perpetuating the same behavior that they say they've rejected.

Christians, unfortunately, seem to feel it is their right to attack believers in other faiths, atheists, homosexuals, etc but want to draw some kind of line in the sand when they are on the receiving end. I don't think so!
