Why are alcohol and tobacco ok but not other drugs ?

The only mind altering substances I take are SSRI antidepressants and antipsychotics which have been prescribed by psychiatrists.

The notion that Marijuana is not addictive is absolute nonsense. If it wasn't addictive then a) why do people want it legalised and b) why do they listen to Bob Marley and put up posters in their room of drug addicts ?

The Beatles and the Rolling Stones were big users of drugs.

Why stop at alcohol? Caffeine is a drug, right?

I was trying to determine what your point was in the OP. I agree that there is hypocrisy and strange assumptions made by many when discussing 'drugs' but beyond that I wasn't quite sure what you thought.

One of the issues I have with recreational drug use, but applies just as equally to alcohol so often, is the lowering of one's capacity to operate functionally - either in a crisis or perhaps whilst having to look after children (where of course it is just immoral to abandon or lower one's duty to such) - with the times that might be incapacitated varying a lot, just as the amount for such will vary too. And if this impacts others, like having to drive during or after having taken any drugs, then there is the morality question again. But, never having taken any recreational drugs, I don't know as to how much the effects would incapacitate one. In the case of Hendrix, anyone with him at the time (presumably his girlfriend) might have been so incapacitated as not to notice any likely problems.

I'm back but a question or 2:

Drugs are illegal in many countries. Half the world hates America but that half also bans cocaine just like America does. You can't say people follow suit because of Western imperialism:

Marijuana is banned in Muslim countries but more openly used in the West and in India. You get CBD supplements nowadays.
Opium comes from the Middle East: both Persians and Arabs use hashish. Heroin is a big taboo in the West.

What is a 'good' drug and what is a 'bad' drug ?

I still believe that many social drugs should be legalized.
Most of the criminals, masses of police costs, masses of prison costs could be reduced, whilst retail sales could bring in masses of tax money which could be directed towards free hospitals and social services.

Oh...... and the police could then go a do some policing to deter burglaries, robberies , growing IT crimes and serious organised crimes.

So eat me. :)

It's really bizarre and ironic. People set out to destroy and vilify the tobacco industry, but want to support and promote smoking weed.

Mix alcohol and you got quite a cocktail there.

Where does the distinction end between a safe and unsafe drug ? I don't know what's worse: Heroin, Cocaine or Meth but Morphine is legal and Cocaine is widely used despite being illegal.

Why should Marijuana be legalised and not these other drugs ?

Thought hashish was opium made from poppy
Hashish is pressed marijuana (the cheap stuff like green Moroccan) or just the resin (the good stuff like black Afghan). But it's all from the same plant, Cannabis, also known as Hemp.

1. There is no lethal dose known.
2. It's practically not addictive. (Technically it is and it is habit forming.)
3. It has medicinal uses.

Also, the way it got banned in the first place was a farce.

Meth is the worst of those, imo. You can safely use heroin and coke but meth is a neurotoxin and causes brain damage.
