No, I'm just saying, there's a lot of christians here, so chances are you will be judged by the christians. It's the law of averages. It's not because they're the majority. It's just because there's so many of them around.

thats exactly what ive experienced; id be judged with bible verses; ive never had anyone of any other religion judge me with text quotations from their holy book
Sounds like just another form of generalized prejudice to me.
Black people are more <insert view here> than other people.
Jewish people are more <insert view here> than other people.
Arabs are more <insert view here> than other people.
Christians are more <insert view here> than other people.

Check out some of the atheist boards on the web. There are some pretty judgmental people there as well who aren't satisfied until they've beaten the theists into silence.

Hey, guys, just a gentle reminder: even if we feel slighted by people of a certain faith, bashing members of any faith is against forum rules.

Welcome, IA. Please feel free to introduce yourself in the introductions area.

AL makes an excellent point. I forget the statistics, but I remember hearing that Christianity is America's most popular religion. (That is, assuming you're in America.) I imagine that it's only natural that if you meet something like 20 people in a day and ten of them are Christian, that the odds are likely that most judgemental people you meet will be Christian. (If only because of numbers.) The majority of all faiths here on RF are represented by kind, wonderful people, and that includes the Christians.

okay, so why is the god of the bible so judgmental? or dont you believe the god of the bible to be judgmental?
Of course He is. Who else but God has the authority to judge us according to His standards?

We're digressing though since your original question was "why are Christians so judgmental"?

I guess I'd change that to "why are people so judgmental" since I don't think Christians have the marketing on this particular trait.

then since im agnostic and not religious, i will get judged by whatever religion sits in the majority; which further reinforces to me that i should not become religious
You're gettin judged by people who happen to be the majority and happen to be religious. You're not getting judged by people because they are the religious majority.

so the christians will judge me en masse? because there are alot of them?

It's the law of averages.
the average christian seems judgmental to me

It's not because they're the majority.
minority christians are judgemental too?

It's just because there's so many of them around.
christians may be more prone to judge when they are in large numbers; at least in my experience

I rest my case. Melody doesn't think of much me, Immortal (shhhhhhhhh ;) )
Malus,
Wherever did you get that idea? I don't have to dislike someone just because we may have some disagreements in how we choose to live our lives or our views are dissimilar.

i think that youre mixing up religion and race; i suggest that many religious belief systems can breed judgmentalism; christians have a history of genocide for example

am i perceiving a theist/atheist conflict here?

Question should be: "Why are a lot of religious people Judgemental"
Are you implying that atheists are not judgmental...at all....ever? Give me a day or so and I'll send you the links for the boards I no longer participate in. Nor do a lot of theists because they are brutally judgmental and have bullied the theists into silence.

I don't make the mistake, however, of saying that atheists are judgmental because their behavior has less to do with their atheism and more to do with their personal need to be judgmental and critical.

No. eVerybody will judge you. Everybody is judging you. except there are more christians around, so it stands to reason that more christians will be judging you.

the average christian seems judgmental to me
The average person seems judgemental to me.

minority christians are judgemental too?
Everybody is judgemental. It doesn't matter the religion

christians may be more prone to judge when they are in large numbers; at least in my experience
Anybody is judgemental in large numbers. It knows no religion.

I did not state you disliked me Melody, I stated you didn't think much of me.

Immortal, beware the self righteous dragon of RF, legends say he is called Deut.

No, you will not get judged, but you will hear the theist view if you hang around theists.

In the case of the RF, there's an easy way not to hear the christian view and that is to stay out of the christian debates. There are areas specifically for the nontheists.

In the real world, christians should not be sitting in judgment on you and the bible specifically speaks to this issue.

if ten are christian and ten are non-christian, shouldnt the odds be 50/50? why would the most judgmental people that i meet be christian?
