Sounds like just another form of generalized prejudice to me.Immortal Awakened said:thats exactly what ive experienced; id be judged with bible verses; ive never had anyone of any other religion judge me with text quotations from their holy book
then since im agnostic and not religious, i will get judged by whatever religion sits in the majority; which further reinforces to me that i should not become religiousMalus01 said:Unfortunatly YES, Immortal.
Of course He is. Who else but God has the authority to judge us according to His standards?Immortal Awakened said:okay, so why is the god of the bible so judgmental? or dont you believe the god of the bible to be judgmental?
You're gettin judged by people who happen to be the majority and happen to be religious. You're not getting judged by people because they are the religious majority.Immortal Awakened said:then since im agnostic and not religious, i will get judged by whatever religion sits in the majority; which further reinforces to me that i should not become religious
Malus,Malus01 said:I'll tell you a secret, Immortal. Having no religion on this board is a disadvantage
so the christians will judge me en masse? because there are alot of them?Aqualung said:No, I'm just saying, there's a lot of christians here, so chances are you will be judged by the christians.
the average christian seems judgmental to meIt's the law of averages.
minority christians are judgemental too? It's not because they're the majority.
christians may be more prone to judge when they are in large numbers; at least in my experienceIt's just because there's so many of them around.
Malus,Malus01 said:I rest my case. Melody doesn't think of much me, Immortal (shhhhhhhhh )
i think that youre mixing up religion and race; i suggest that many religious belief systems can breed judgmentalism; christians have a history of genocide for exampleMelody said:Sounds like just another form of generalized prejudice to me.
Black people are more <insert view here> than other people.
Jewish people are more <insert view here> than other people.
Arabs are more <insert view here> than other people.
Christians are more <insert view here> than other people.
am i perceiving a theist/atheist conflict here?Check out some of the atheist boards on the web. There are some pretty judgmental people there as well who aren't satisfied until they've beaten the theists into silence.
Are you implying that atheists are not judgmental...at all....ever? Give me a day or so and I'll send you the links for the boards I no longer participate in. Nor do a lot of theists because they are brutally judgmental and have bullied the theists into silence.Malus01 said:Question should be: "Why are a lot of religious people Judgemental"
No. eVerybody will judge you. Everybody is judging you. except there are more christians around, so it stands to reason that more christians will be judging you.Immortal Awakened said:so the christians will judge me en masse? because there are alot of them?
The average person seems judgemental to me.the average christian seems judgmental to me
Everybody is judgemental. It doesn't matter the religionminority christians are judgemental too?
Anybody is judgemental in large numbers. It knows no religion.christians may be more prone to judge when they are in large numbers; at least in my experience
i wont tellMalus01 said:I rest my case. Melody doesn't think of much me, Immortal (shhhhhhhhh )
No, you will not get judged, but you will hear the theist view if you hang around theists.Immortal Awakened said:so i will get judged by whatever religion sits in the majority?
is it okay if members of any faith bash someone of no faith?FeathersinHair said:Hey, guys, just a gentle reminder: even if we feel slighted by people of a certain faith, bashing members of any faith is against forum rules.
thanks much; i'll do thatWelcome, IA. Please feel free to introduce yourself in the introductions area.
if ten are christian and ten are non-christian, shouldnt the odds be 50/50? why would the most judgmental people that i meet be christian?AL makes an excellent point. I forget the statistics, but I remember hearing that Christianity is America's most popular religion. (That is, assuming you're in America.) I imagine that it's only natural that if you meet something like 20 people in a day and ten of them are Christian, that the odds are likely that most judgemental people you meet will be Christian. (If only because of numbers.) The majority of all faiths here on RF are represented by kind, wonderful people, and that includes the Christians.
