Why are insurance costs out of control with the 'Affordable Healthcare Act"

Because the U.S. gov'ment controls it.
The Gov't does nothing economically.
Because foolish voters "bought" the notion that gov'ment insurance
would be FREE.
Anything doled out by the gov'ment is NEVER free.
Someone(s) like working taxpayers are footing the bill big time.
Nothing is so expensive as a FREE Gov'ment program.
Who is paying for all the people on the dole living and eating without
working and earning one thin dime?
A long time ago when I was a rookie cop I qualified for food stamps.
And took 'em.
For about 3 months then I got yet ANOTHER part time job and earned
enough to get off food stamps.
I ate BETTER on food stamps.
I watched ethnics trade food stamps for beer and wine. Something that
was supposed to be illegal.
Slum lords took food stamps for rent payment.
Those on the dole lived pretty well by supplementing expenses with
food stamps and shoplifting.
Sell the food stamps for cash then buy beer and wine. Sell the stolen
goods for cash. No taxes. Can't beat it.
Now there are no food stamps. They get a credit card so as to not be
embarrassed using paper food stamps.
If ya need the assistance then take it. Don't make it a way of life.

Samo with the A.C.A. or Obama Care. Dr.s will find easy ways to take
the gov'ment money and get wealthy.

Basically because insurance companies have no accountability, and people thought "more insurance"--more of the problem--would be a suitable fix rather than going to a single-payer system.
New Because the U.S. gov'ment controls it.
Outside of medicare/medicaid and other state programs, the government does not control health insurance or care. And, for what it's worth, my socialist insurance that comes directly from the state of Indiana is pretty good. It doesn't cover all essentials and things I need, but it covers way more than ACA minimums and it cost me not a dime out of pocket to go through the dozens of doctors visits and barrage of testing when I developed IBS.

I've not heard of the government giving doctors lunch, lavish dinners, and other incentives for advertising and promoting certain products. Rather, the ACA did give us a website to use to look up our caretakers and see what they are being provided on the side by pharmaceutical and insurance companies.
Because foolish voters "bought" the notion that gov'ment insurance
would be FREE.

I really doubt many think it's truly free. Yes, it's free as in free of out of pocket expenses, which is a tremendous plus when you're poor, but I don't think many fail to realize it comes out of taxes from things like income, sales, and excise taxes.
I ate BETTER on food stamps.
Me too. My overall health was much better then.

Embarassment can motivate them to do other things - minimize their expenses, start an entrepreneurship, find support among their local community. It's not all about employers.
Poor people generally are already cannot minimize their expenses any further, they have no money to start an entrepreneurship with, and sometimes the support can be hard to find or they just end up having to close their doors from a lack of support.

The embarassment should still be present, as a motivating factor.

Embarassment should be necessary.

I always thought so.
It isn't. It's an expected entitlement.
When I was a police officer I bought groceries at Kroger's.
It's a low priced early "discount" grocery store.
"They" bought at the Village Market. The best grocery store we had.
They also lived in NEWLY built Gov'ment houses, drove really decent large
vehicles, summers in the "developments" were one long b b q.
Oh well so it goes.

They and the government are attempting to bypass the Law of Kamma (cause & effect, embarassment, etc.).

Unfortunately (or fortunately?), the force of Kamma will return in greater strength in the future, against those who try to do so.
