Why are people proud to be gay

Technically I'm not gay but I am nonbinary and I sure as heck ain't straight

There's something to that too. It depends on the situation for each person. My wife never had to go through all that as a gay person. For her, it's just who she is. However, my religion says that a gay person shouldn't have homosexual relations, and she never did, and I'm proud of her for that.

Being gay doesn't relate to struggling not to be intimate with the same sex. That's a personal battle but not related to ones sexual orientation.

I've never had those experiences either. For me intimacy with someone I love is something to be proud of. I don't understand why someone would be denied that intimacy and be told that that's a good thing to not love someone you're attracted to.

I see what you mean. I don't believe you're seeing being gay the right way. But if she were struggling, yeah I'd be proud too not because she is gay.

I am very far Left wing (-9.5 last I took the political compass) and very deep into Libertarian territory (-9).
And this thread makes it clear I'm more ok with freedom of expression and support it to a far greater degree than what you apparently do.

It's not just about being proud of what you are. It's being proud about what you are and was expected to keep silent about. Being proud of what you've achieved despite personal or societal setbacks.

I don't know about her struggling before we got married. After she was attracted to me, and we got married, she has always loved me, and that love never had anything to do with sex, so she says. I didn't have sex with a girl before marriage, and didn't struggle that much with it, but then I masturbated a lot and was very awkward with girls and didn't attract them to me.

Hobbies, being helpful, dependable, trying to be relied on and overall work on stuff that makes you go somewhere. Just overall core ideas of value system, since sex and stuff isnt really that important. Activity is nr 1 important thing, everything else is a nr 2. But corruption happens if you dont have a value system to go by. Not trying to shame masturbators or porn or people who are into different things. But without a value system it all goes downhill

Socialists are manipulative and often rely on authoritarian rules and scoffs all form that doesnt comply to their group think, socialists hate free expression and sucks. With how USA is formed, you have two extremes. Extreme Left and Extreme Right. The political system in USA is terrible because you only have two choices, and not several parties that you can ideologically agree with. And vote and see if they can get into power fair and square.
