Why are you gay, bi, or lesbian?

If you don't mind, as a hetero male, I want to know why you are gay, lesbian, or bi.

Does everyone think they were born that way? Did some of you "convert" for some reason? What other factors come into play when answering this question?

If I was asked the question in reverse, I would have in past by instinct said because it is natural. So is that your answer as well?

So do you think back in the days thousands of years ago homo/bi relations were looked down upon or t was just part of nature? Anyone know the answer to that?

I think years ago people weren't as public about who they slept with so the public's reaction was not an issue.

well many people tend to think being non hetero is a choice....

some argue that we are all secretly Bi

factualy young children begin their sexuality at a very young age... guys play with their bits, girls with theirs.....often from as young as 5 years old...

I knew from a very young age which body parts I found more interesting.....
and you know, I've heard gey and bi people have had the same experience
(I'm hetero) which is shocking really, when we consider gays, lesbians and bi sexuals are homosapiens too.....

:sarcastic those naked sweaty greek men that have been the basis for so much of western society, saw no difference between male on male humping and male and woman humping.... Depends on the culture.
But as it is typical that 'majority rules', as in, what is the 'norm' of the majority is considered the 'norm' of the entirety, very few societies considered it on equal standing as a heterosexual relationship.
Although there have been a few. Women in the Lesotho area of Africa engaged in socially sanctioned "long term, erotic relationships" called motsoalle.
Two-Spirit
individuals among some Native American tribes were recognized young, and were often treated as holy, and commonly ended up as shamans.
The Aztecs, Mayans, Moches, and Zapotecs in South and Central America were very tolerant of homosexual and bisexual behavior, and did not consider sexuality as a part of social status.
And of course in Greece, same-sex and bisexual relations abounded, with little or no social consequence, dependent on the City-State where one resided.

Lesbos, where the female poet Sappho wrote her famous lesbian erotic poetry and ran a school for young girls.

Yep. Can't help who you're attracted to, it's pure instinct.

It's almost certainly more complex than a gene or something, though.

Oh, much younger than that. I defy you to find a 3-month old who's never got a hand down their diaper.

For every older brother you have, you are 28%–48% more likely to be gay (if you're a male, not females though). There's no way that stat could be a co-incidence, which strongly suggests it's not simply a matter of choice (not that I'm implying you're suggesting it is itwillend, but I'm just pointing it out for those who do say so).

It's my brother's fault I like boys! I knew it!

For real? That's crazy, where did you hear that?

What if you're a Male and you have 3 older sisters? Would that make you super-straight or something?

The irony here though is that nearly everyone in my life thinks I'm a closet Gay lol!

Well we didn't wanna say anything but since you brought it up... ;)

LOL!

I think maybe having 3 older sisters had some sort of trickling affect on me, maybe it made me less erm "Macho" or whatever - which is probably why everyone thinks I'm Gay.

I dunno. >.<

Although I'm straight I do find Homo-sexuality and Bi-sexuality fascinating on a Psychological level - in a good way of course, I'm not a Homo-phobe or whatever.

I recently read the same statistics in a psychology book, and it appears to happen only in brothers, not sisters.
