For older people: ( I can't guarantee the accuracy of the translation below. )

I saw those links mention Kabbalah

What exactly is that?

I've heard of it but don't know what it is

I know it has something to do with Madonna

I suppose that there doesn't have to be a point. But for me it would be emotionally satisfying to actually know the point.
From my understanding, humans are unique in having fully developed souls and are able to enter the spiritual path leading to union with God.

Kabbalah is hundreds of years old, Eastern-European Jewish spiritual/esoteric tradition.

It's a catch-all term for Jewish mysticsm. In order to answer anyy question in the form of "Why did God ... ?" Or "How does God do ... ?" Jewish mysticsm is needed to fully answer the question.

Technically the word kabalah is a "received tradtion". That's what it means, literally. Kabalah is the verb "to receive" or "reception".

I thought it was about summoning demons, that kind of thing?

No. Thats Qabbalah with a Q. Aliester Crowley and some other groups took Jewish terminology and made their own system out of it. By stealing the name and stealing the terminology, they were trying to use the credibility of the name kabalah to legitimize their own system.

It's totally different in almost all ways. But people don't know the difference, and when it's spoken about out loud, no one can tell the difference between the Q and K. Those other groups are kind of... ummm ... they intentionally try to fool people and mislead them, and trick them, in a lot of ways into fooling around with demons.

Well, that's a bit cheeky

@Eddi,

The thing is Ed. You really can't trust anyone who claims to know kabalah. They are probably talking about Qabalah and they don't even know they're practicing something which has zero connection to judaism.

I've never met anyone who has ever talked about it but I will be sure to bear that in mind

I mean God Didn't need to create humans so what is the point ?
I think God created humans because God is love and God is creative. I think we were created to share in God’s love.

To answer your question, I'd like to repost what I wrote on this topic in another thread.

I believe the theory of evolution is a more reasonable explanation for the origin of mankind than believing that a god created a man from dirt, breathed air into him and made him alive, created a woman from this man's rib, and that a talking serpent cunningly deceived both the man and the woman into disobeying the god by taking a bite of a forbidden fruit from a magical tree of life, or that the rest of mankind is supposedly descended from these two individuals. In comparison to these stories, believing that human beings evolved from an ancient primate ancestor doesn't seem so unreasonable to me.
