Why do bad things happen when God exists?

A political system run by people who probably don't follow Scripture very well.
It does explain the corrupt world we live in.
Absolutely. We have a world full of blind and faithless people looking in the wrong places, earnestly seeking someone who will take away all the suffering. They become convinced because they have been deceived by the lying jackals of established political systems and leaders who are blind to the truth, who are themselves a cause of much of the suffering in the world, that these corrupt leaders will save them from corruption and suffering. It is the blind leading the blind into ruin.

God is responsible for all the oppression and suffering. God set it all up, God designed it. God created Satan. God built in the capacity for evil in his creatures, so He is responsible for crime, war, genocide and so on. He also built in disease, cancer, physical and mental disability, etc. God is a sadist if He exists, like a mad scientist torturing lab-rats.
Yes, God permits suffering and oppression. Yes, God set it all up. God designed it. God created Satan. He likely knew that Satan would rebel against Him. He likely knew what would happen as a result of giving mankind free will. Thus, He is certainly, albeit indirectly responsible for crime, war, genocide and everything else that is displeasing to us. I assure you, it displeases Him as well. But I believe your conclusion is flawed. So God gives us free will, and as a result it is somehow his fault that we choose to make bad choices? God requires your love. There is no you and Him without it. Right now, it's just you, alone in a world without God. Not only did God set up this earthly kingdom where human beings have free will, He also gave us instruction for who would have faith to live in this world. You've all seen it, yet you choose the path of Satan, in rebellion against God. But it's His fault. I understand completely.

I believe that not one of us, except perhaps for a few exceptions that I would not dare to mention or even ponder, lack God completely. I believe God is present and influences all of us. The difference I believe is a matter of our knowledge and awareness and acceptance of Him. God's influence extends to all of us. The question is whether or not we perceive and become aware and know and believe that it is He who is calling us, it is He who is influencing us, He who guides us, He who loves us. It is the faith in God that people lack.

Let's talk about the few exceptions. Can God stop these people from lacking God completely? And can God stop the rest of us, who perhaps lack God a lot, or a bit, from lacking God a lot, or a bit? Similarly, can God stop people from lacking faith in Him?

Sure He can, but why should He? In the end, maybe He will save us all, but then again why should He? If that is his intention, then that is what He will do. But until then, God demands our love and our faith. Why not give it to Him?

If it hasn't been said already, and I'm not reading all these posts to find out, but
Satan is in control of this world.
Read the Bible & research this and learn for yourself.
If Jehovah and His followers were in control we'd have no crime or other
societal issues that we deal with today.

Why does God let Satan be in control of this world?

So sometimes He doesn't?
So what? God is fully capable of making His own decisions. If God wants to save you, you will be saved. If God sees nothing in you worth saving, maybe He won't save you. Why should He alleviate your suffering?

Satan only controls those who have allowed themselves to be controlled by him. Satan is not in control. Satan is a maggot I'll spit on if I ever see him. (no offense intended of course to maggots.) They serve their purpose as well.

But to your question as to why God lets Satan have control. I suppose everyone needs to be ruled by someone. If you will not be ruled by the God of Creation, then you shall be ruled by the god of death and destruction.

Yeah, Al Pachino...a great actor. His character embodies perfectly the attitude of most atheists. Yet, like most atheists, this character knows there is a God. And so do you. So why do you hate God?

Al Pacino was playing Satan. I don't hate "God", I just don't see it as a credible or useful idea. I think it's done more harm than good down the centuries.

I can't accept the notion of a God who is (fully) capable of preventing (all) bad things (including lacking God, not having complete faith in Him) but chooses not to do so (because he has infinite wisdom, which we should not question).

...
Absolutely right .. He has the ultimate responsibility
..and yet, we share His responsibility .. that which we are able to control, that is

If you do not hate God, why did you post the video? What was the point you were trying to make by posting that video clip?

More brilliant minds have accepted the notion, why can't you? What is it that you are lacking that is preventing you from being capable of accepting this notion?

What about the possibility that God is not (fully) capable of preventing (all) bad things from happening? Or that there are multiple deities competing with each other?

All those scenarios result in chaos, which, looking up at the night sky, isn't evident.

I'm a Muslim. And I don't want Sharee'ah.

Will you say that a little louder please.

I love that movie. It's the first one to actually tackle enlightened theology. Satan says, "God is an absentee landlord", when (1.) Satan is nothing more than a symbol for our internal temptation to do evil.. And (2.), that symbolic Satan knows that God isn't an absentee landlord, It is a God who can't interfere with the universe in order to protect our free will--which Keanu's character uses to (individually) defeat the Devil by blowing his brains out. Perhaps the most misunderstood, yet profound, scene in Hollywood history.
The other thing to be learned from it is the Devil's statement, "Vanity is definitely my favorite sin." Turns out, I finally came to realize, it's the ONLY sin. (Fades to black in catatonic paroxysms of theological anti-dogma extacy [not to be confused with the pill].)

When you're hot, you're hot.

Bad Things Have Been happening Since the Evolution of This Planet . Whenever there are Devtas there are Asuras Also .
Evil Existed Along with Good . I Believe This God may be letting evil run its course in order to prove that evil is malignant and evil persons end with suffering will is bad, harmful, painful, and leads to death.
