why do ghost wear clothes? If clothes isn't made of spirit?

I believe that how we choose to dress is deeply entwined with our sense of identity, and it's the same for the dead.

Human spirits typically project themselves as they last perceived themselves before passing away, and this includes the clothing that they remember to be most closely associated with their identity in life. When spirits project themselves, they appear dressed as they envision themselves to be. For example, I've seen many spirits of Union and Confederate soldiers who died on a Civil War battlefield still wearing their uniforms, as well as other human spirits who were clothed in the typical attire of the time they passed away.

Because clothes are an important part of our identity and it's what we expect to see.

Plus, what would be flowing dramatically around them if they were nude...

...don't answer that.

We all hear stories of phantom horse carriages and ghost trains.
Do you think ghosts of deceased humans can create horses and trains out of thin air with their thoughts? o_O
Yes, that's possible but there are also so-called residual hauntings where strong emotional events from the past seem to replay.

As George-Ananda noted, there are residual hauntings. A residual haunting is the most typical type of haunting, and it's triggered by residual energy leftover from a tragic or life-altering event, a daily pattern of a person who passed away in a particular place, or both.

A residual haunting will continuously repeat the same event, much like a slow-motion video replaying the same event. A spirit or spirits present in a residual haunting are unaware of their surroundings and are unable to interact and communicate with the living.

I am a humanist -- I consider other people in all of my decisions. There was a time when me naked in public may have been seen (by some, at least) as not unattractive. That time, at 74, alas, has passed. Even if I were dead and a ghost, someone would have to have treated me much worse than anyone has so far for me to subject them to that horror.

It might be like asking why do we wear clothes when they are not part of our physical body?

I think our appearance on the astral plane is formed and can be changed by thought. We appear as we think we look to others typically wearing our usual clothes. Hard for us to understand that matter is composed by thought on the astral plane.

Casper the Friendly Ghost didn't wear clothes. Nor did he seem to have any genitalia.

Good questions! Frank, I never saw this thread before!

It makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

IMO, if these entities can appear as having clothes on, they could appear as anything! A “hound of the Baskervilles” maybe?

I always thought proper ghosts wore sheets. So that they could be identified as proper ghosts.

Because they have it as a habit. Every ghost was once a living thing. So, basically if it's a human ghost than he must have a habit of wearing clothes on daily basis, at least to hide his body (even though his body is not in the actual existence and no one can see him expect other ghosts, still his shyness and mind would be tricks like he will be exposed or something like that) may be they're used to wearing cloths as once they were humans as well.
