I think it's because women are told in various forms - "This is how you create a happy life for yourself" - and are given a laundry list of how to hand over their power to the men in their lives.....and they listen to it.
Actually, no argument from me. Some of the most insidious forms of male-domination propaganda comes from other women. We're certifiably insane.
