Why do people make children?

We are simply not nearly wise enough nor frugal enough to really be up for those challenges.
I blame also the narratives.
The narrative is that we need those births.
People are encouraged to make babies.

If the State encouraged me to smoke, I would never start smoking, still.

I won't do what others tell me to do.

The instinct of the living process is to survive.

It's as natural as breathing, eating.

All living systems that exists in nature exhibit the principle of procreation.
Prostitutes have sex with 5 or 10 men a day.
They don't get pregnant, though.

So you can have sex and not make babies.

We are 8 billion on this planet.
Do you think that the all 8 billion were born from wanted, desired pregnancies?

If not, tell me the percentage of unwanted pregnancies.
No idea that figure.

"Why do people make children?'

is what i was working on. I am aware that many enjoy the variety of debates on the topic. i don't.

You brought up instinct.

Children shouldn't be made out of instinct.
But out of reason.
After thinking about it 10000 times before...

Many of us have evolved from the animal stage.
I never follow instinct. But reason.
You breath based on instinct, not reason.

Your heart is beating on instinct.

Nothing to debate, living systems once started INTEND to continue.............. naturally.

and procreating is how a life, lives into the next generations.

Looking at this map...
does it mean than in Africa there is more instinct?

Or that Europeans don't have instinct?

Actually the difference is based more on your method of observing why people have children than observing the instinct of the individual lives to survive.

You mentioned that making babies must have rational behind the choice. You even wrote that rich people have more babies to have more slaves.

i do not observe procreation is such a way.

I mean....if we exclude the millionaires or the billionaires, well, they can assure a future to their children.
What about the rest? ;)
Proletariat, Middle class. Why do they make them?
They procreate, making children who will have to undergo the parents' impositions, who will basically have no freedom, and once adults they will have to succumb in shark-infested waters. Because there are voracious sharks, that is wicked people who victimize the weakest. Only the fittest survive in capitalistic economies.

Well...I have discovered Anti-Natalism, lately...but I identify as a overpopulation believer and I am 100% convinced that all the problems we have on Earth are caused by too many people on Earth.
So I would like to understand why people do anything to have children.

It's something absolutely avoidable. There is contraception. :)

Please...only serious replies, merci beaucoup. ;)

Suppose you were handed the Olympic torch and instead of carrying it with you and handing it to the next runner you say, "Nah, I don't think so," and let it burn out and die.

Parents almost universally seem to express the opinion that their children are the best thing they've done with their lives.
Particularly so, if they have accomplished little else. Of all the things a person can do with life, what is of lasting value? Your job? Your retirement? What do you have to look forward to in life? It all passes away, for some sooner rather than later. Children are a parent's hope for the future.

Perhaps the people who have voluntarily chosen not to procreate deserve a group Darwin award for removing their genes from the population.

Or maybe those who don't procreate consider themselves spiritually satisfied. ;)
And don't need to create more human beings to give life a meaning.

I think there are probably a whole lot of different reasons why people have children. Some are biological, some of sociological, some are emotional, some are economic, some are selfish, some are altruistic, ...

No. I said rich people need slaves to exploit so they push commoners to make babies.
Future slaves.

I would never want a child that will be victimized by those demons.

Which is lame. It's like trying to have an orgasm with someone else's gonads. This is exactly the sort of rationale that turns children into objects that are owned by their parents, because they see their children as an extension of their own bodies.
