Why does a loving God allow animals to suffer?

If what you say is true, no animals would ever suffer in the wild. But animals do suffer in the wild from sickness and disease and that is through no fault of humans. I learned this on another forum from an atheist who is also a scientist. He said it was too graphic to describe or post.

But it is true that much of animal suffering could potentially be prevented by humans. Maybe some of the animal suffering in the wild could also be alleviated by humans, I don't know that much about science

I agree, and I am a Christian. I do not understand it either

I also do not understand why animals do not have an afterlife. I know what some Abrahamic believers say, because animals do not have an eternal soul, but if they have to suffer in this life, and die, I think that animals should have an afterlife... Of course, since I am not God, I have nothing to say about it. ;)

Even though the Bible and the Baha'i scriptures do not say anything about it, I believe that animals have a spirit that lives on and goes somewhere. I do not know where their spirit goes but that is where I want to go, because a heaven without animals is not a heaven at all. :(

Not a Biblical answer. If God knew humans would torture animals why make them? Why make animals eat each other, why not make them all vegetarians? How can God stand to see what happens to innocent animals? Nobody, even theologians have an answer to this question.

You state its not biblical but it is biblical that the lion will lay with the lamb in future peace so the natural behavior is known. You will not find an answer without accepting evolution and survival of the fittest as to the animal behavior, as humans we have a choice given us by God.

Isaiah 11:6 King James Version (KJV)
6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

What do you think that verse means? Do you think it is about animals?
