Why does God choose us in particular

Why out of a billion sperm does he chose one that made you or me, instead of someone else it could have been? When it could have been someone else during the same act of coitus that could have done just as well and accomplished the same things? If all we really have to do here is love and repent our sins to get to heaven? This life is obviously nothing compared to eternity. So why us.

In my view the soul pre-exists the body, so we would still exist whatever sperm/egg genetics get expressed.

Why not?

And what makes you think that He's all THAT invested in the micromanagement?

My tradition doesn't contain teachings that would lead to such questions being asked. Callings of the gods in a polytheistic tradition have a much different tenor than what is being asked about here.

What makes you think you're so special that out of a trillion trillion ovum, a trillion trillion sperm, trillion of lives, on this teeny tiny speck of iron hurtling through such a massive universe, what grandiosity allows one to think they are special enough for a god to have chosen them?

Ok, I follow you...so you imply it is likely chance with no rhyme or reason? We hear of a "master plan" and each one of us is uniquely chosen, etc. I know we aren't meant to understand everything, just curious to opinions.

Ok I appreciate your reply, I didn't realize that.

This is funny, but imagine if Earth were a penal colony to a more advanced civilization and the advanced civilization were constantly scouring the Earth looking for any signs of special intelligence, yet kept finding none.

‘Made our rounds again today, a few potential future candidates... but still a bunch of vile morons.’

I do not think God chooses anybody in particular. We won God's cosmic lottery perhaps! God plays the numbers game and sees what will happen. There, evidently isnt anything special about this existence.

The specialness comes into play when we choose God. OmniGod just isnt omni anything.

I am saying that if there is any sort of being beyond this universe, how could it ever notice us? After all, we ourselves are constantly surrounded by organisms and life forms so insignificantly tiny to us we don't notice them at all without any sort mechanical optical assistance. And some being outside of the universe that we don't surround?

It is like totally super smart. Omniscient.

I tend to lean that "intelligent life out there" would realize we are far too dangerous for them to visit. Even with advanced and superior technology, they would have to know their life would become hell if one of them were captured, and considering what we do to our own I would hate to think of what we'd do to something that has undoubtedly frightened us like never before.

I wonder if they ever stop to think about how tedious such a thing would be? "God knows the number of hairs on your head" I was told in Church. "Why," I must ask now, because it did eventually occur to me that level of micromanagement is horribly inefficient and a colossal waist of time. But, I suppose one would get extremely and unimaginably bored living forever.
