Why EXACTLY is JK Rowling accused of being transphobic?

Sorry, but I'm not getting into this redundant argument again. Been there, done that, and I don't want to repeat it.

I'm sorry, I don't recall this particular argument. Debating trans, sure.

But debating what exactly JKR said? I don't think we've been down this road...

There are things she said I don't agree with.

As Voltaire said....
I will always defend her right to express her ideas, even if I disagreed with her entirely.

Would you be willing to sharing specifically what she said that you don't agree with?

Bit of trivia: Voltaire never actually said that ("I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"), rather the quote comes from a biography about him, "The Friends of Voltaire". The statement was written by the author (Evelyn Beatrice Hall) who used it to describe his beliefs. :)

Tweets have a words limit. So she is supposed to express her stance in a very synthetic way.
I think she has been misread.
I don't agree with just a tweet or two...I don't recall the exact sentence....
I don't want to misquote her.
But I do understand her and respect her.

It doesn't matter.
The concept is important.

pointing out misinformation is not irrelevant and doing so doesn't negate the concept.

It doesn't change the fact that I will always fight to the death so people I disagree with have the right to say it.
And that other people won't do that...but will try to censor them.
As Rowling's case shows.

I want to answer this vaguely because I honestly don't care about Rowling at all, nor what out of touch famous people think about anything regarding real life.

It doesn't really matter what people say or do anymore, all that matters is what we are told to think about them mixed with general cancel culture. To take someone totally different, look what happened to Depp, or look at Manson being canceled once again for the same nonsense reasons and still with no evidence. They were guilty until proven innocent because we were told so, and there's sadly nothing more to it.

Is Rowling transphobic? In the end it no longer matters, that's what the people of high symbol/object value say, therefore it is true.

Very strong language
2 pages in and not an answer.

Can someone just tell us what she said?
I've got close to zero interest in this but I think between the links in the OP and good old Wiki you'll find your answers. It seems to be more than one thing, but like I said, Rowling is of no interest to me.

Is saying that trans women are not biological women transphobic?
According to the Woke Ideology, it is.

Also...according to the same ideology, it is transphobic to say that biological women cannot be fathers and biological men cannot be mothers.

I think it’s far more telling that the very people who were once accusing Rowling of “corrupting kids” with witchcraft and even gay relationships in her fiction have now embraced her because she’s been “cancelled.” And she goes along with it willingly.

Sorry, but that says far more about Rowling than any alleged transphobic comment she may or may not have made.

Maybe she said something transphobic, maybe she was taken out of context.
I don’t really know. But given her behaviour, it’s clear she just wants clout and praise.
Which is fine, but sucking up to the very people who used to burn her book isn’t exactly a good reflection of character.
But it’s her life so whatever. That’s her choice

Having known folks who were raised by single mothers and single fathers who indeed played both roles enthusiastically, I say a pox on your house ;)

Like give me a break. I know plenty of motherly men. :p
They’re arbitrary made up roles anyway. Who cares?

No but in all seriousness, my 70+ year old father was surprisingly overly nurturing and would be called “woke” by folks these days. Despite him not knowing what the hell that even means. Because you know, he was born in the 1930s!

People are complex my friend. Men can be very nurturing and women can be extremely gruff. And both can act in ways that fulfil some surprising social roles for folks. Sometimes effectively even

I was speaking of trans people, by the way, since JK Rowling was speaking of them. ;)

Ok, but the mother is the one who delivered the child.
The father is the one who contributed to the conception through his sperm.
That's my opinion...honestly.

In general, wouldn’t we expect that people who stick to their principles should find that some people criticise them on one issue yet praise them on another?

Summary: For the last several years there has been a lot of public outcry that Harry Potter author JK Rowling is transphobic. (I'll link to a few summary articles below, but this controversy is easily discovered via your favorite search engine.)

Do you think that what she's said or done is transphobic?
Can you give specific examples of such speech or behavior?
Can you explain why something she said or did is transphobic?

Why was J.K. Rowling canceled? The 'Harry Potter' author's controversies explained.

I found an article in theweek claiming a complete synopsis of her controversial tweets. I do not know if they have found every single one.

So for anyone who wants a timeline: there it is.

That's a great observation.

So do YOU find any of what she did or said to be a problem? If so, which things, and why do YOU think they are a problem?
