You don't need God to enjoy those qualities. Why I believe God is good:
It gives me hope.
It gives me strenght
It makes me more safe
I feel loved
Life has meaning
If God is evil then there is no hope.
Life is meaningless
Life is terrible
I feeling unsafe
I feeling not loved
I need God in my lifeYou don't need God to enjoy those qualities.
That doesn't mean that God is good.....Why I believe God is good:

Who are you to speak for what another needs? You don't need God to enjoy those qualities.
Sure. And I encourage those who do feel that need.I need God in my life
I would feel more of meaningless. And more of hopelessnessHow would you feel if there was no God?
It's a debate thread, pointing out that God isn't a requirement for any of that.Who are you to speak for what another needs?
That didn't answer my question. How can you speak intelligently about what @Starlight needs or doesn't need? It's a debate thread, pointing out that God isn't a requirement for any of that.
There are a lot of good things out there in the world that inspire and motivate.
I dont see it as arrogance givin I was a past theist who expanded their horizons past the borders of theism. That didn't answer my question. How can you speak intelligently about what @Starlight needs or doesn't need?
You don't need God. That's fine. But it's arrogant to tell another what they need or don't need.
Most of evil on this planet earth is because of humans. God gave humans free will. starvation could stop tomorrow if all humans cooperated. That doesn't mean that God is good.....
It means that God has been good to you
What about all the people on Earth who lack those good things and who suffer those bad things????
(Assuming God has anything to do with any of those things, which is an enormous assumption)
Some people need God in their life, I are one of themI dont see it as arrogance givin I was a past theist who expanded their horizons past the borders of theism.
I see it as sharing the perspective that God isnt a, or the only requirement for any of that listed for it to be experienced and enjoyed.
Hence you don't need God.
If that were true then "Most of the goodness on this planet earth is because of humans" would be trueMost of evil on this planet earth is because of humans.
So then us learning lessons are more important to God than him being good to peopleI also believe this life is also a test. Like a school for the soul. To learn lessions. This worrld is full of contradictions because to know what goodness is, the opposite must exist. to know what is hot, you have to know how cold it is. if the world was only goodness then this life would not be a test and our soul would not learn so much

and at least they are out there in the world, unlike God, who is in hiding....There are a lot of good things out there in the world that inspire and motivate.
That's true, but the good on this planet earth is also because of humans, not because of God.Most of evil on this planet earth is because of humans.
This fallacy has many names. It's kind of an post hoc ergo propter hoc, wishful thinking or motivated reasoning. Why I believe God is good:
It gives me hope.
It gives me strenght
It makes me more safe
I feel loved
Life has meaning
If God is evil then there is no hope.

I do not know for certain that God is loving. I BELIEVE itThis fallacy has many names. It's kind of an post hoc ergo propter hoc, wishful thinking or motivated reasoning.
"I want it so, therefore it is so." But that's OK when talking about gods. As there is no known, universal set of characteristics of gods, you are free to invent your own. Just as everyone else has done.
