I need God in my life
That doesn't mean that God is good.....
It means that God has been good to you
What about all the people on Earth who lack those good things and who suffer those bad things????
(Assuming God has anything to do with any of those things, which is an enormous assumption)

Just pointing out there are many things out there aside from a god that can invoke those same characteristics.

It's a debate thread, pointing out that God isn't a requirement for any of that.
There are a lot of good things out there in the world that inspire and motivate.
That didn't answer my question. How can you speak intelligently about what @Starlight needs or doesn't need?
You don't need God. That's fine. But it's arrogant to tell another what they need or don't need.

I dont see it as arrogance givin I was a past theist who expanded their horizons past the borders of theism.
I see it as sharing the perspective that God isnt a, or the only requirement for any of that listed for it to be experienced and enjoyed.
Hence you don't need God.

Most of evil on this planet earth is because of humans. God gave humans free will. starvation could stop tomorrow if all humans cooperated.
I believe God gave us free will because God is loving. God do not want someone to be forced to love him.
I also believe this life is also a test. Like a school for the soul. To learn lessions. This worrld is full of contradictions because to know what goodness is, the opposite must exist. to know what is hot, you have to know how cold it is. if the world was only goodness then this life would not be a test and our soul would not learn so much

If that were true then "Most of the goodness on this planet earth is because of humans" would be true
Which would mean that God has little to do with goodness or evil, which would mean that goodness and evil are human affairs that have nothing to do with God........
Which would put the idea that God is good under a lot of doubt and make such a statement rather meaningless
You seem to be attributing evil to humans but goodness to God
I think this is somewhat irrational
So then us learning lessons are more important to God than him being good to people
Which would mean that "God is our teacher" would be far more accurate than "God is good"
If he isn't actually being good to us but is instead putting us through a test
Is good and evil the only possible options that can be imagined? What about indifference?

I used to believe in God, but I don't anymore. However, if that's what you need to believe in God to feel better, then I wish you well.

I am not sure what God it does that God exists unless God does something besides giving some people hope.

That's true, but the good on this planet earth is also because of humans, not because of God.
Besides sending Messengers every 500-1000 years, what else does God do for planet earth?
It is the Messengers who do the heavy lifting and make the sacrifices for humanity, not God. All God does is speak to them.

This fallacy has many names. It's kind of an post hoc ergo propter hoc, wishful thinking or motivated reasoning.
"I want it so, therefore it is so." But that's OK when talking about gods. As there is no known, universal set of characteristics of gods, you are free to invent your own. Just as everyone else has done.
