Why is Necromancy forbidden according to your tradition?

Necromancy, black magic, astrology, etc. are usually forbidden by traditional religions because they are considered peer competitors fighting for the same market.

I agree viole. Do you believe the spiritual/supernatiural world exists? Ie a realm not a slave to physical laws as in natural law etc?

I am a metaphysical naturalist.

I hope that answers your question.

Well it does somewhat, but just like the interpretation of quantum physics number in the 100's, the definition of metaphysics differs quite a bit among who one asks, hence the reason for my question. So you reject the 'supernatural' aspect of metaphysics. I find it amazing that Kurt Godel embraced the spiritual side of metaphysics being a logistican and mathematician, and a brilliant one at that! Thanks for your reply~

Contacting the dead is a big part of my spiritual practices. I've spent all night in cemeteries and it was euphoric...I can't wait till it warms up and can do it again.

I'm saddened to see that this practice is condemned by so many Theists. Why is it forbidden?

From a Hindu perspective, after death, the body is cremated and other kinds of rituals are performed to free the soul from the old body so that they transition to a new one. Attempting to communicate with a soul after death would risk binding the soul to his old life, which could have karmic consequences for that soul later on. In short, it's not bad, it just isn't helpful.
