Well, that doesn't seem to be stopping you from deciding yourself why pork was banned.
True. I chose to choose the writings within the Torah to tell me the will of my creator. I need nothing else. :beach:

Well, that is one way of looking at it though it is my understanding that I try not to put my thoughts and feelings over the one who created me.
So you're dropping your claim that ancient peoples didn't eat pork because of health reasons?
I personally believe that there has always been a knowledge that certain foods were not for our consumption and that it would lead to health problems. I just can't prove it as yet. Thus far all I have is what is written in Torah which insinuates such.
If the prohibition was for health reasons I would think all meat would be banned.

No, where did you come up with that?
It seems like you're conceding the point in the 3rd post. Just wondering.
A message to Seyorni who turned this topic to a veg and non-veg debate, and to all of the hindus
Hindu scriptures permit meat ,Seyorni prefers useing the word vedanta to the loanword word in Arabic language "Hindu" which means Indian. Seems right vedanta means follower of the vedas.
So what with the speach against non-vegetarianism?
Regveda Book.10 humn.16 v.10: You can have meat.
Regveda Book.10 humn.85 v.13 and Regveda Book.10 humn.86 v.13 say the same thing
See more refrence in the Hindu scriptures and Bible YouTube - Zakir Naik - Is Non-Veg Food Prohibited in Major religions?
So ancient Hindus ate meat. So what does it prove? Nothing except that ancient Hindus ate meat. Does it prove that meat was eaten by each and every ancient Hindu? NO.
So, some ancient Hindus ate meat. Does it become incumbent upon present Hindus to eat meat? No.
Fact is, meat is not prohibited to Hindus, but is advised against. Many Hindus DO NOT TAKE MEAT.
Naik is a jerk.
I find that phrase not only offensive, but also rude, and baseless. The fact is chickens are dirtier animals than pigs. Please return to read the first few pages.Muslims dont eat pork coz Muslims are civilized, and clean by nature, Pork is the dirtiest animal on earth, so dirty ppl eat Pork, not Muslims
what a load of bull ****.Muslims dont eat pork coz Muslims are civilized, and clean by nature, Pork is the dirtiest animal on earth, so dirty ppl eat Pork, not Muslims

Muslims don't eat pork because they think that their chosen god told them to not eat pork.
No big mystery there.
Doesn't matter. It's still offensive.Whats offensive in this? did i mention any particular sect or ppl with name?
Actually, chickens do eat their own poop. My wife used to help on a farm (who specialized in pigs, but they also have chickens and such) for ten years, until she was 17 years old. She never once saw a pig eat its own poop.and by the way, chicken dont eat their own discharge, pig is famous for its dirtiness. check medical history and medical recomendation for pigs.
Pigs are adapted to cool northern forests. Direct sunlight and temperatures over 98 degrees F. will kill them.
They have poor thermoregulation -- they don't sweat. In hot weather pigs need to wallow & like to cover their bare skin with mud. If no mud is available they will use feces (Below 84 degrees F pigs will choose an out of the way corner to excrete, above this they begin to excrete indiscriminately). A pig in it's natural environment is a clean animal. In a hot, desert they are forced to wallow and become dirty to survive.*
Doesn't matter. It's still offensive.
If its offensive, thn y the question is ask, y muslims dont eat port? when every1 knows the answer?

For a fantastic explanation on chickens and pigs, and why pigs are not filthy animals by nature except by necessity, please see post four of this thread, or click here.
Or see the following quote, from post four.

Please do not assume anything about me. I in fact live in a large-ish city with a high population of both Sikhs and Muslims.I think u r living in a very remote place, away from normal civilization,
Yet as I explained, you said pigs eat their own fecal matter; I pointed out chickens do, and yet they are still eaten.let me tel u, 1st dont compare chcken with port, coz the topic is for pork, not for chicken
Just because I disagree does not mean I am not thinking with an open mind. I have heard and read all of the information that has been posted on why people do not eat pork many times. Reading it several times, nor accusing me of having a closed mind, does not make it correct (ps, please don't plagiarize as it's against forum rules). Now, let me rephrase, I know u wont agree still on this, thn wats the use of discussion? so think with open mind,
Not all. Buddha ate pork for one.even semetic & non-semetic religion prohibts pork, references u know urself. Thanks
Because the Bible prohibits it, and because of the heat of the climate pigs are not as clean as they are in northern climates. What I find offensive is that 'Muslims do not eat pork because they are clean, only dirty people eat pork'.
Where u got the verse that Bible prohibts it? can u show the verse? so dirty ppl eat ppork, wats offfensive in this? if some1 is not eating, even its non-muslim, they wont think themselve dirty, dont take it personaly

I didnt used anywhere u r having close mind, or I gave personal remarks, I said this attitude should be remove, that whatever claim we make, ppl have attitude of not accepting it, coz they made up their mind, its nthing personal in this I guess.
Not all. Buddha ate pork for one.
Did u se urself him eating
For the record, I'm vegetarian. I just happen to find what the claim anyone who eats pork is 'dirty' to be incredibly offensive.
Leviticus 11:7-8: And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.Where u got the verse that Bible prohibts it? can u show the verse? so dirty ppl eat ppork, wats offfensive in this? if some1 is not eating, even its non-muslim, they wont think themselve dirty, dont take it personaly
Why would someone lie about that?Did u se urself him eating
I mind because I dislike stereotyping people, as well as calling people 'dirty' because of what they eat. For example, many people in China and in the West eat pork (I believe pork is one of the favourite meats ,if not the favourite meat, of most Chinese, excluding those who don't eat it for religious/ethical reasons). To say that they are dirty based on that is the same as saying anyone who eats camel, horse, chicken, eggs, etc is dirty. It's rude, baseless and offensive.I told u, who dont eat, even if non-muslim, they wont mind, u dont eat also, so y u mind, means u r clean, wats the offense?

So, wat is writen? does it say in Bible that it is clean? or its allowed for u>?
Why would someone lie about that?
how u know Buddha was real? maybe its only story or myth, like u say for prophets

so what? Its not only muslims who are told not to eat, jews, so-called christians, hindus, all are told in their scriptures not to eat pork coz of its un-hygennic and dirtiness, want proof?
what a load of bull ****.
