With all due respect, I wasn't really interested or concerned about what you feel about Jesus. I mean I can understand why you would think I was angling for that, but I really wasn't trying to sneak Jesus into being your Messiah. I just want to make that clear. The truth is that Jesus himself was not trying to found another religion.
..., so that I may learn why Jesus doesn't qualify.
Hi, well I have heard numerous reason why Jesus doesn't qualify as the Messiah, but only in passing conversations, never from a direct dialog with another person.Qualify as what?
Perhaps you could get what you're looking for here, but (as others have noted) before entering the discussion you may wish to consider why you do not believe that Muhammad or Bahá'u'lláh qualify as messiahs.Hi, well I have heard numerous reason why Jesus doesn't qualify as the Messiah, but only in passing conversations, never from a direct dialog with another person.
Sure, no problem. If you set up that one-on-one thread, please make a link to it in tbis thread.
What a lovely link, thank you.Perhaps you could get what you're looking for here, but (as others have noted) before entering the discussion you may wish to consider why you do not believe that Muhammad or Bahá'u'lláh qualify as messiahs.
Then I encourage you to pursue the discussion in the link provided. The purpose of the Judaism DIR forum is to provide just such a venue sans acrimonious debate.Sure, no problem.
What a lovely link, thank you.
To your point, about Muhammad or Bahá'u'lláh, it is an excellent point. Though I am still admittedly eager to learn this one subject as well.
Not I. I have little interest in the soft porn of proselytizing by way of gentle rhetorical 'discussion', but I'm sure you'll find takers elsewhere. :yes:If you set up that one-on-one thread, please make a link to it in tbis thread.

Wow! This is what I was afraid of.Not I. I have little interest in the soft porn of proselytizing by way of gentle rhetorical 'discussion', but I'm sure you'll find takers elsewhere.
Excellent. I shall endeavor to help you.Wow! This is what I was afraid of. ... I am not a preacher, or a wanna be prophet, or wanna be divinely inspired anything trying to spread anything. I shall endeavor to live up to this claim as well.
Good day to you.

No, what I was interested in, is you used a verse from Deuteronomy to show how prophets can be eliminated. I then proposed a situation of circumstances (and I can only assume you thought I was trying to project Jesus, but again I am not) that presents a question.
Namely, the question of whether or not a people, such as the Jewish people could follow a set of rules, and be told they must follow these rules for eternity. Yet, a time later, they obtain more rules, that can appear to disqualify the older rules, but if examined properly, maybe they don't.
Hence, why I suggested in my previous example, that when the new rule came to love one another, some would be confused by that command, and wonder if it harms any of the preceding commands one was already following.
Within Judaism, there are plenty of rules to follow, and to an outsider like myself, or even an insider that may be new, I can only imagine it would be quite a task to balance the rules so as not to live a life where one interpretation of a rule harms another rule, etc. Does that make sense?
So, to follow up, since you brought up Jesus specifically in your reply, I would personally be interested in maybe having a private discussion with you, I see there is a one to one area on the forum. Only so that I can ask questions to you, so that I may learn why Jesus doesn't qualify. I think it may be interesting for others and myself.
Cheers.
