These people are doing you a favor by trying to poke holes in your propositions, BlackBear. That's what intellectuals do, they help each other in the quest for truth by critiquing each others opinions.

Spiritualism is not finally an intellectual process, though. Doubt is part of spiritual development, as Fowler shows, but doubt has to come at one's own pace. To introduce doubt before the person is ready is not doing them any favors.
