"Why Wiccans Suck" article

Member
all of that site is complete bulls***. i mean ALL of it.
quote from the site:
There is so much hatred in the Wiccan world! Listen to a Wiccan ranting about the injustices that the Xian laws have caused -- listen to them recite, gleefully, all of the contradictions they can find in the Bible -- listen to them blame the Xian God for all of the Holy Wars -- then step back, take a good look, and wonder why these poor Xians think you've been misled by the Devil. You're certainly not giving them any reason to think otherwise.

isnt there about 50 BILLION TIMES more hatred on that site tword wicca then there is in wicca. we dont hate people. we are just telling people that we arent hurtful

The cake is a lie
Like I told Feathers earlier, this guy is ranting against Wiccans who don't know anything about Wicca, no Wiccans who actually know Wicca's past. You might want to read the FAQ page on that site. :)

It appears to be aimed at educating rather than mocking in spite of the tone and inflammatory title.

Indeed it is, truthseekingsoul. I can't say I approve of mocking in order to get people's attention, but sometimes people do need a good rap on the head as a wakeup call.

You can't say that this is untrue Fabbers, because since you've started posting here I've read multiple times about your dislike for Christianity and how they're trying to kill off the Wiccan religion and so on.

*yells over to NetDoc* Have you been trying to kill Wiccans and spread dissent against them again?
You know I hate it when you do that!

Seriously, though, I was also angered when I first read the article, but I didn't realize that there's a cover page that goes with it, that warns that it is not directed against all Wiccans, simply those that follow it for certain reasons. Since, as you said, you didn't wake up one morning and decide to become Wiccan, then it doesn't apply to you.

Fabbers, it just seems that you're very negative about everything. I've yet to see you post anything positive about anything. It's so far all been about how everyone is trying to kill off Wicca and Paganism when, I'm sorry but IMO, that's just not true.

Guess what, we've all ran into those Fanatical Christian Idealists who tell us we worship Satan because we don't follow them and who condemn us to hell, but the majority of Christians are not like that. There are also Christians who have ran into Pagans or Wiccans who claim to curse people and what not, but are the majority of us really like that? NO! There are fanaticists in EVERY religion and you cannot dwell on them.

We are supposed to be tolerant and accepting of all other people and all other religions Fabbers, but it just seems that you are not.

When I see someone tied to a stake in my back yard, THEN I'll believe people are actually trying to kill off my beliefs, until then, the burning times are over. Have peace within yourself Fabbers, it seems you have much anger.

To have such a feeling of bitter animosity towards any subject, or group of people, shows that the writer has serious problems. I feel sorry for him or her.

As do I. As I do anyone who runs into him and thinks this is how all Pagans or Wiccans act. As if spewing the negativity about Christianity or any other religion is our main goal. It seems like an obsession though.

Actually it seems to me that anyone who gets that annoyed about something actually cares deeply for it & the anger is perhaps the anguished screaming of their own hurting soul.

Eh, I really love WWS. I think it's very amusing, and informative. I tell everyone to read it.

Then again, I don't get offeneded very easily. I think I've read most - if not all - of the site, and none of it has offended me. Plus, a lot of it is quite true. Not to say that all Wiccans act a certain way, naturally, but there are a lot of stereotypical things that go bouncing around in the religion - or any relgion - this site simply makes you think about those things. <3

thats how i am. THAT is why i said "you people are making a mountain out of a mole hill", because it shouldnt be a big deal. I also found it informative, to some degree. The rest was all angry ranting.

I was never fond of that site. In fact, I really dislike it. Yes some of it is true (of the 'fluffy bunny' type anyways), but I feel most of it is ranting. And I dont think it is the right approach when dealing with a "newb Wiccan". Instead of telling them off and scaring them away, I'd rather just make a website about what Wicca is instead of telling someone how stupid they are. However, it is true that some ppl respond to 'hard love'. I mentor a lot of teens interested in Wicca and Paganism... so I have seen my share of Wiccans who have no idea what they are doing. Instead of ranting at them just because they may have gotten their information from a terrible source, I work with them and teach them.
Another thing I dont like about this site is that he seems to have this attitude that if you dont practice Gardnarian Wicca to a tee then you are not really Wiccan. Now he may address that in his FAQ section and say that he is not meaning that and only means that he wants us to be aware of our religions history, but I seriously doubt if that is true. To me, he makes it sound like there is only one way to practice Wicca. One of the reasons why I was attracted to Wicca was because it was so open. Whether one likes it or not, Wicca has evolved, and I personally am glad that it did.
Also, I really dont like that when he said that if you wear obvious Wiccan jewelry or flaunt your religion that you are not a 'real' Wiccan. (I dont have a quote, but that was somewhere on that site... I have read that site several times and I know thats in there, I just dont want to search it at the moment lol) I dont think there is any problem 'flaunting' ones religion. Hell, Christians do it all the time... doesnt bother me any. I often wear a pentacle necklace (I have many... I make hemp jewelry and like to show it off... nothing wrong with that), I also have several Wiccan/Pagan patches on my college bookbag, my husband and I have Wiccan/Pagan bumperstickers on our vehicles, and we both have religious tattoos that other ppl can see. Does all that make us 'less' Wiccan or 'less' knowledgable about our religion? I dont think so at all. But anywho... look at me, now I am ranting LOL....

To be absoloutly perfectly honest, i have practiced Wicca somewhat like he rails against and also somewhat like he apparently does.

So much venom i also admit i didn't make it to the bottom.

This is a quote from his site;
"You get to feel oh-so-self-righteous by knowing all the little nuances of the unseen world."

He's talking about others but i found myself wanting to tell him Namaste.
i will define Namaste here as, "i am the mirror of you you are the mirror of me." To say that that which we find either posative or negative in others is that which we love most or that bothers us most about ourselves.

But i will, of course, also add that Sanskrit cannot be properly translated into english as the english words to define the points do not exist.

It is extremely unlikely that this single religion has become a hotbed for people he finds undesirable completely independently of the religious values within that religion itself. Perhaps he dislikes aspects of the religion itself and is merely focusing this dislike on the followers?
