I remember a Peanuts cartoon from long ago that said, “It doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you’re sincere”. That’s a contemptible lie.

The members of ISIS are sincere. The Nazis were sincere. People who tell you that you’ll suffer eternal punishment if you don’t believe what they believe are sincere.

I have no intention of respecting a religion that endorses dogma that I know is false.

Speed doesn't kill, it's hitting the wall
There are plenty of beliefs out there that don't deserve any credibility, remain baseless, and should be pointed out for what it is.

I always figure it's appropriate to attack the belief , not the believer as irrational beliefs can be extremely damaging and harmful in numerous ways.

I agree, that confronting the belief rather than the person is a smart move, problem is we all have loads of emotional energy invested in what we believe, so in essence "If you attack my beliefs because I have a load of emotion invested in it your indirectly attacking me"

That's how it works

I am talking about religious belief, not other form of beliefs. Nazi belief is not religious beliefs, and i am against the nazi ideology.

We dont need to be agree with other religious beliefs but we should accept that people have different religious belief

Religious beliefs get a special bucket? Why?
Of course I accept that people have different religious beliefs...that is a fact, pure and simple...but I'll judge beliefs of a religious persuasion the same as any others.
Why wouldn't I?

Why is so difficult for many people to accept others beliefs ?
Instead of asking Why do you believe this, or if what you say is correct why does "this" happen? and let them give you an aswer many tend to get angry and "attack" others belief.

It is ok to disagree with others, but do we need to mock them for what they believe in?

I would guess its a left over part of our brain for tribalism. You have parts of your brain now to transcend that. Often people disagree with me on this bit. The most convincing argument I have heard is our innate fear of snakes in the wild. If you ever have the experience of a snake slithering past you in tall grass you might freak out but some people reach down and pick up the snake and identify it and usually just release it.

Its in our ancient nature. We evolve. It's a slow process. Give it time.
