Let's start with the beginning. You were once a Christian? You are relatively young? You found yourself at some point disillusioned with mainstream traditional apostate Christian teachings? The immortal soul, hell, trinity, cross, Christmas, Evolution, the rapture, all soul's day, confession, etc.? You find those teachings to be representative of the Bible? You find the Bible, up to a certain point at least, to be a mythological collection of fictional religious texts probably produced long after the events revealed therein? You are intelligent and independent in your thinking, you don't like to be told what to do? You took a fancy to the dark side, so to speak? Are you from a small town or the big city?

I only think that apostate applies to people who turn from the real teachings of the Bible to traditions of men, like, in the case of those I mention from time to time, Greek philosophy. I don't have anything against reality, for example, I know you to be intelligent enough not to confuse my interpretation of reality with evolution just because that is your interpretation and so I see, once again, not unlike many other encounters with evolutionists, an intellectual dishonest approach to your question. But what the hell? Who cares, eh?

I was born into it. Southern Baptist. And I was very devoted, even considered the "ideal teenaged Christian" by those "running" (pastor, youth pastor, their families) the church. But that ended when I was 16.
As for how old I am, I'm 31, but people very typically think I'm in my mid 20s, with late teens popping up recently from a few people.

I had a difficult childhood: My mom was verbally and emotionally abusive; my father walked out one night and was around so little I can't even recall a time when he was around to say "this time was before he left;" I was bullied relentlessly throughout elementary school and had teachers consistently side against me; and being transgender, and having attractions to men, put me at odds against church teachings. I was home school for 6, 7, and 8th grade, and when I returned to public school I learned things weren't so nasty and harsh as I had been lead to believe having been contained within such an insular sub-culture. And when I was 16, continual hardships combined with recently learned facts that conflicted with church teachings shattered what had once been a very deep and Conservative faith.

I'm originally from a city that had a population of about 40,000 when I was born (now 50,000), and lived in a city of about 11,000, and when my parents moved to Indiana it was first a town of about 11,000, and then out to "Amish Paradise" between that town and another one of about 40-50,000 people. I've been in "Amish Paradise" for about 27-26 years. The nearest settlements aren't even big enough to be considered a town.

I can relate to nearly all of that. The verbally and emotional abusive mother, the bullying throughout elementary school and the attractions to the same sex. I was at odds with the religious in the Bible belt. Felt that I was surrounded by judgmental hypocritical idiots. Nothing has changed for me as far as that goes.

I was home school for 6, 7, and 8th grade, and when I returned to public school I learned things weren't so nasty and harsh as I had been lead to believe having been contained within such an insular sub-culture. And when I was 16, continual hardships combined with recently learned facts that conflicted with church teachings shattered what had once been a very deep and Conservative faith.

I would have loved to be home schooled, if, actually, it would have been the home of someone else. In school my problem was more along the lines of unimaginable loneliness. People left me alone most of the time, aside from the occasional bump or knocking of books out of my hands in the hallway. I had no one to talk to. Wanted to be left alone because I just hated it so much, and felt as if there was no one in the world like me. Who I could relate to or talk to. Oddly enough home life was totally different. My house was where all the neighborhood kids hung out and I was the one who everyone looked up to. I would get everyone off their asses and doing stuff. Sports, made up games, music, for example. At school, though, they didn't know me.

Interesting. Though I've lived in Indiana most of my life it's always been small towns. I've seen the Amish, but only briefly passing through. I like the idea of the nearest settlements not being big enough to be considered a town. Maybe I've lived in those types of places most of my life. 5,000 is too big for me. I like a fairly big sized town to be near enough but not too close and have always enjoyed life outside the small towns.

As an animal superior in the areas that needth it be we have risen above from being taken to being the taker on the earthly plane. Man who used to face tiger or wolf is now faced with a much superior creature that matches him in all respects and on every level.

What then? The rising above of man from these two planes of existence may not be considered to many as major steps in the evolutionary cycle of man but that is an understatement.

We fell to earth and have been evolving ever since. Trying to escape this material encapsulation we find our spirits trapped in.

When all three and united and understood to perfection all peoples will live under the umbrella of truth and evolve to the next step in our evolution.

Its left to be seen if enough people will transcend the animal mind into the spiritual mind before the earth is devastated by nuclear destruction.

The universe is mental. We needs to use our minds to evolve past our minds or else we will be stuck in this progression forever.

World thought has to change towards a spiritual nature. Not religious or overly rational. But true and spiritual

Lots of things are demonstrable. Evolution isn't finished, though it should have been and is often wrongly presented as such. You can take any accumulation of data and demonstrate it, then revise it, again, and again. That's nothing special.

And it surely does scare you, at least it looks that way.

Is that demonstrable? The question which I asked you, which you ignored in true arrogant atheist fashion, was who cares? What is the significance of it? If science prescribed the notion that we were once machines that grew and harvested our internal organs from retarded fish squirrels what good would it do us to be acquainted with that knowledge? The awareness of a propensity to gather nuts in the fall graduated into unbridled materialism? That sort of speculation is trivial and changes often.

People that are not afraid can debate honestly.

I walk past several Amish homes when I go on walks. There even used to be an Amish furniture factory/place of assembly about 1/4 mile away.

Where I live, about 1/4 mile away is a tiny whatever with about 2 - 3 dozen houses. There used to be a Marathon station, many years ago, as it sits along a highway, and even a restaurant, but that is now a house (the Marathon station was restored to look like an old Shell Station). And I can show you where Tin Cup is, a super itty bitty whatever with not even 1 dozen houses.
This has been my life, pretty much always, and I'm moving to California next week, working my way towards being near LA.

It would probably depend on the curriculum and overall environment. The cirriculum I was exposed to justified aparthied Africa, taught very rigid gender roles, and was so Southern that in these little comic thingies the white characters and black characters very rarely (if ever) interacted with each other. Lots of other things too that are just so Conservative and so very literalist that I realized many years later after I left how that form of Christianity doesn't see the forest for the trees, and they aren't seeing much of the trees either because that might incite pagan god worship. As for the home school group itself, not only did they demonize Harry Potter even Pokemon was straight from the hands of the devil because Pokemon evolve and evolution isn't true and is a direct affront to what the Bible teaches is true and the goal of the game is to be a Pokemon master but that is blasphemous because the Bible says that the only master is Jesus.
