Hi Fellas, for the purposes of this thread, you can count me in as a Messianic Jew. After all I believe the Messiah will be coming. Mind you, I do not believe in a personal Messiah. I believe in a "Messianic Era".
To the best of my knowledge I think your considerations match mainstream Judaism since I think most of Judaism believes a Messiah will come & there will be a Messianic age? I never considered mainstream Jews as Messianics before you posted this, so I'm grateful you gave me something to consider thank you.

Are we on the same wavelength ?
No, I'm a Gentile so I needed my hand held by a more personal Messiah to lead me to the One True God of Israel. You already knew the True God so you didn't need this personal aid that I needed. Ruth needed Naomi & I needed Jesus. He is the personal light, leader & instructor I needed.

By the way I am willing to discuss your views and change mine to yours if they are more logical. That's just how we roll. :).
I find the views & matching behaviours of Jewish Jesus to be more logical, beneficial & desirable than the ones I grew up with so I changed mine to his & would love other Gentiles to do likewise for the benefit of themselves & the world they interact with.

I am willing to enter into prothyletyzing discussions with you, no worries.
I don't know why you desire prothyletyzing discussions but I persoanlly have no interest or desire to be involved in such discussions thanks anyway ... that's just how I roll.

Mainstream Judaism, me ? That's what I keep telling my friends in the Judaism DIR, Danny, CMike, Tumah and Moishe, but for some reason they think I'm a little different, any ideas why ? :)

You are right, I know the "One True G-d of Israel". S/he is non-anthropomorphic, panentheistic and lives in our hearts and every single atom in the universe. Mordeci Kaplan, the Rabbi that started the Reconstructionist movement didn't believe in a personal Messiah. Are we on the same wavelength here ?

You just want to convert Gentiles ? Are you a Messianic Jew or a J4J ?

Hehe, good one Glenda ! That's cool, you don't convert me and I don't convert you.

G'day Avi1001 :)
Sorry but I have no idea about many things, including why people you mention, who I don't know, think you're a little different ... I assumed everyone was at least a little different & considered that is a good thing :)

Wow you use big words I need to look up.
Hang on a sec & I'll check what they mean ...
non-anthropomorphic ... not comparable (I agree to an extent, except I believe we may share some very minor attributes with God eg capable of movement, hearing, speaking, love, anger, morals, ethics etc.)

panentheistic ... identifies God with the universe ... I disagree since I consider that God created the universe rather than being the universe

Ok, now we're up to easy words
and lives in our hearts ... agreement this is possible if we so choose
and every single atom in the universe ... disagreement (I don't consider that God, Who is Spirit, lives in 'atoms' or in vegetables or animal waste or many other assorted options)

Mordeci Kaplan, the Rabbi that started the Reconstructionist movement didn't believe in a personal Messiah. Are we on the same wavelength here ?
No, we aren't on the same wavelength here. Does that matter? I don't feel the need that we have to be. Do you? I'm a disciple of Jewish Jesus (who I consider was probably a Karaite rabbi since he seemed to prioritise & promote Moses over 'tradition') rather than a disciple of Mordeci Kaplan ... I desire to be on the same wavelength as Jesus & work towards that goal, since he had God with him while I don't know if Mordeci Kaplan went about doing good because he had God with him.

You just want to convert Gentiles ? Are you a Messianic Jew or a J4J ?
I'm definitely not a J4J and I don't know if I can be considered a Messianic Gentile but I can't be a Messianic Jew since I can't convert to Judaism without denying my dedicated discipleship to Jesus and I'm unwilling to do that. I don't actively attempt to convert anyone, but personally attempt to live according to the teachings of Jesus & Karaite Judaism (including diet and calendar etc) to the best of my ability and accept & respect the right of others to live differently ... on forums I'm happy to discuss some issues but in daily life I usually don't discuss religion (except to specify to understanding bosses which holy days I need off work & will have the phone off etc), but I object if others try to push Paulianity (aka 'Christianity') on me.

Hehe, good one Glenda ! That's cool, you don't convert me and I don't convert you.
Agreed :)
cheers :)
