A co-worker friend saw it opening night at a midnight showing but is willing to go with me on Tuesday. He told me not to expect to much. I have a feeling it is going to be simple Summer Blockbuster Popcorn fare.

Honestly, my expectations were as low as they could be going into a movie and I was just hoping for simple Summer Blockbuster Popcorn fare, but it didn't even reach that level. Transformers by Michael Bay was better than Wolverine.

The New Paltz theater is only about 9 minutes from my house and Showtimes theaters are in the next town over about 30 minutes away. Showtimes is a multi-plex theater with stadium seating and a superior sound system. New Paltz theater is a dump and you can sometimes hear the movie from next door playing during quiet moments in the movies. On Tuesday, New Paltz theater has $4.00 seating and this is where and when my co-worker friend suggested we go. I think that says a lot about what he thought about the movie.

Still haven't seen it. :( I ended up having to man the booth at the comicpalooza and couldn't sneak away to see it. Soon though, I hope.

I've never watched any of the X-Men movies, and thought the prequel a good place to jump in, not requiring any previous knowledge of the three movies. Wolverine is quite an average big dumb action movie, and I am feeling quite charitable. There were plenty of cliches, and logical problems in the movie. I could partly overlook these if there were some excellent action set-pieces, except there was not much that was memorable in this regard.

Oh, and Wolverine fights in the Civil War, World War I, World War II, and signs up for Vietnam, and suddenly has moral qualms about killing people. I know Wolverine is not considered to be the most intelligent of the X-Men, but the grass behind my house thinks more quickly than this.

On the whole, I will have forgotten most of this movie in a month's time, and that is simply not good enough.

Wolverine was never going to be better than Transformers. Transformers was just next level.

I don't think it will do that well as far as summer movies go. Yes it could of been better then of course the movie would of been a hell of a lot longer. I was expecting more myself, but in the end I knew it was going to be changed a lot from the comic. I wish people who made these movies would go to the fan website & get some ideas from what we think & like. Wolverine is such a complex person there is no way to please everyone & get it right.

I loved the new x-men movie. I just saw it last night. I would see it again honestly. I personally think it was too short though. There was lots of bum kicking awesomeness.

I just hope Marvel gets the rights to X-Men movies back and makes some good ones. Fox sucks.

Certainly there were fight scenes and explosions, but are you going to critically analyse the plot or not?

Personally, I didn't find too many things wrong with the plot. I liked the story line, the acting was good... there was good action... My Fiance and I both really enjoyed it. I just had wished it was a bit longer. I think it was an hour and 50 minutes or something. I honestly felt like I was only in the theater for an hour.

It's a pity none of this came across in the movie.

Knowing that I think they did a decent job of the movie I mean we can rip an movie apart easy enough. Comic book movies are the hardest to make Ironman & Hulk were not that complex. BatMan was but they didn't have to cover some 200 years of back story. Wolverine was more then likey one of the hardest stories to tell on film in the comicbook world.

Hulk and Iron Man are 100X more complex that Wolverine. You actually have characters that grow throughout the movie - characters who are interesting because they are flawed. "complex" may be the last way I describe Wolverine. And his character is boring.

Are you speaking of the character in the movie or in general. Wolverine of the books is incredibly complex, well, depending on the writer.

I can see that you have never read the comic the movie wasn't able to show how complex Wolverine is. Wolverine is very flawed if you read the comic I'm dissapointed that they were not able to show that in the movie.

While dissapointing it shouldn't be surprising. Wolverines flaws and complexity don't translate to an action adventure film well. A television mini series or full on series would be necessary to get to that level. IMHO
