Woman urges Scott Pruitt to resign, and he does!

“former clients”. What are you talking about? In what way was she a “former client”? This was a woman trying to defend her child’s future. And she was in no way rude. She did not yell, she did not call him names, or use bad language, she did not threaten him. Her actions we absolutely appropriately and laudable.
Are you good with this kind of behavior becoming the norm then? People feeling entitled to go up to whoever and tell them what they think? Really? (That was what I was intending with the idea of you being accosted by someone from the past that wasn't happy with your performance, by way of comparison.)

In all seriousness, it's not like he wasn't perfectly aware of how many people feel about the environment. He simply doesn't share the same attitudes. Plus, it's not like Trump will likely put in a successor that the good teacher will be happy with. Update: Andrew Wheeler was a lobbyist for coal industry and is also a climate skeptic. Nope... don't think she will be too thrilled at that.

That's bad too, but actions have consequences especially if one wants to involve themselves into politics.

So we get closer and closer to the era of incivility? Being apolitical is looking more and more desirable.
Well it certainly doesn't shine well on the party of alleged tolerance and inclusiveness. It will help out with the midterms and the next presidential election nicely.

Yes! Yes Yes Yes a thousand times yes. I think I have been very clear on this point.

Where are all the free speach advocates now?
Well, it's bound to be an interesting next few years. I wonder how long it will be before prospective hecklers will have to get past security staff to share their esteemed thoughts.

Before I say what I am about to say, I want you to understand that I am making a prediction of what might happen, not what I want to happen.

But if they cut off access of the citizenry to those who represent them, things are going to get very nasty.

This is why I am encouraging people to talk to these government officials. And I encourage the officials to listen. It may be uncomfortable, but it is a necessary part of the job. And to Pruitt’s credit he did sit there politely and take it. And that is what should happen.

In this spirit, I agree, but I am far too keen an observer of human behavior to not see where this can lead -- quickly.

I'm not sure the accosting had any relevance to the person resigning. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't. Unfortunately, this is going to lend support to the idea that it did so likely to encourage more of the same.
The girl with the baby wanted her 15 minutes of fame. Talking in a civil way is fine. Making a youtube video of it is something else.

I think there's more to it than a school teacher / mom making a statement.

I not sure how brave it was. Confronting a politician in public with a child in your arms while he's at a restaurant eating. Few politicians would be willing to create a scene in that scenario. Then again, maybe she was willing to sacrifice the well being of the child.

For many people their greatest fear is public speaking. It takes guts to do what she did.

And I would be surprised if she did not get some pretty nasty backlash on social media (from cowards).

She obviously wanted attention. Let's set that part aside.

We will see what her motives were if they were sincere or not. People do these things for all sorts of reasons today.

What exactly do you think Scott Pruitt’s motives were when he was leading the Environmental Protection Agency? Do you think he was motivated to protect the environment?

Given he resigned I don't think that's an issue anymore. The visit was cordial so that's always a good thing.

I'm just wondering if the woman did it for herself, or for a group of people like an activist organization.

I just thought that if you are going to question her motives, it is only fair to question his.

For the historical record if nothing else.

We don't know that but you could be right.

More ammo to demonize the right. Social Media... Worst invention ever.

Yeah, it’s like he took millions of dollars from Russia via a foundation front organization and “speaking fees” and gave Russia a “reset” button, or used FBI flies for personal political purposes.
That's a good start of a what Trump is doing list.

Confronting public servants is getting into a swing. As these people start accosting government official, they need to remember that one day when the Democrats eventually move back into control, by that time the accosting will be in "full" swing. What's good for the goose...........

This is about ethics, not partisanship. When a government official isn't doing their job properly - be it corruption and/or incompetence - they need to be "accosted" and held accountable, regardless of their party affiliation.

What did this woman do that was so terrible? She calmly approached Pruitt, who is a public official who should be accountable to the American people, and calmly and rationally explained why she thought he should resign. She didn't yell. She didn't beat him up. What's the problem?
