My feelings exactly. If the Germans want what they perceive to be a more modest uniform that is their business. And the same if a team goes the other direction. The only way to be in the wrong is to try impose one's own taste and "morals" upon others.
By the way I also support Muslim women that opt for veils or whatever other clothing they find necessary.
I think we're broadly aligned, but I wouldn't quite go as far as you.
Given that the Olympics are a combined event, some small nod to commonly held morals make sense. For example, no matter my own opinion, I wouldn't find it appropriate for women to compete with bare breasts in 2021.
And I struggle with the combined values of individual choice (in terms of dress, for example), versus subtle coercion or patriarchy.
If a person has been brainwashed since birth to consider wearing a hair suit is the only true way to show deference to God, we might not be surprised when said person wears a hair suit. Does it matter? Is the 'cure' worse than the 'illness'? Meh...dunno. It's honestly an area I find somewhat confusing to reach a position on.
