After my temple trips yesterday I found new forms of the divine mother that I had not heard of before!

Vanakkam,

After my temple trips yesterday I found new forms of the divine mother that I had not heard of before!
Jai Jai Randal Maa!!

They are infinite, one life will not be enough to have darshan of all forms of MataJi, even the most secrets and hidden in villages ones ;)

As for me, I is not the usual colorful pictures, but I find the chola art so graceful and inspiring. The murti of chola bronze are all a feast for eyes and heart, with such delicate details and with every gesture full of grace. This is for me the best and most beautiful artwork of India ! This kind of art also capture all Parvati Devi beauty and qualities, which is rare !

I have a big murti of Ardhanarishvara that look like this, this is the main murti worshipped in my home temple along with ShivLing.

Just look at this perfect gesture and details, I am in love :')

I can see what you mean those sculptures are breathtaking!

Actually when you see those marvelous tall south Indian style tempels that kind of architecture was done by the "chola dynasty"

Jai Lord Nataraj!

Today I THINK of Manikarnika in Kashi. On a wall there was painted these words above the Manikarnika Ghat:

This is Manikarnika
Where death is auspicious

Indeed, it is so. And many dead come here even passing from another place. It is where there is the beginning of the end, and beginning from an end.

You should one day come to Manikarnika.

Om Namah Sivaya.

Wow Fireside! These are beautiful puppets! Are they from Bali Indonesia? Did you make them?

I have always been fascinated by the Indonesian "shadow plays" whuch use paper like puppets to cast shadow charcters on a screen for plays of the Ramayana.

I also have a wooden Rama puppet from Indonesia.

Have you ever seen the movie "The Year of Living Dangerpusly" (one of Mel Gibson's first movies, it takes place in Indonesia during the time of Suharto)?

This muvie has seens of shadow puppets in Ramayana.

They Are! They are Wayang Golek Puppets from Indonesia. I didn't make these, although I do make puppets. The puppet artistry out of Indonesia is some of the best in the world. I am envious of your Rama Puppet. One day I will go to India and Bali and bring back a suitcase full of puppets. I will donate all my clothes to make room for them.;)

Thank you for sharing that ShivaFanji!

I have two wishes that I hope God grants - although I must never ask for them. I would like to be a master puppeteer in my next life, or a temple shilpi.
