There are also a hundred or so versions of just the English translation. Each translation and version of a language tries to impart the meaning of the original language of the texts - ancient Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koine Greek. This takes an enormous amount of effort.

Take your pick.
Which one is the One and True Christian Bible????????????
Heck if I know.
The J.W.'s will say the N.W.T. which is the Bible they use but the translators remain
unknown.
"The New World Translation (NWT) is defined by the Jehovah's Witnesses’ parent organization (the Watchtower Society) as "a translation of the Holy Scriptures made directly from Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek into modern-day English by a committee of anointed witnesses of Jehovah." The NWT is the anonymous work of the “New World Bible Translation Committee.” Jehovah’s Witnesses claim that the anonymity is in place so that the credit for the work will go to God. Of course, this has the added benefit of keeping the translators from any accountability for their errors and prevents real scholars from checking their academic credentials."
Italics are mine for emphasis.
I find the "reason" for not identifying the translators very interesting and a bit
suspicious.
Were the translators academically trained? I rather doubt that.
Could this be a case of altering scripture to suit a denomination?
I dunno.
I DO KNOW that the W.T.B.&T.S. frowns somewhat on members attending college.
Didn't know that didya?
Jehovah’s Witnesses are advised against pursuing a higher education, with the Watchtower regularly providing warnings that attending university is an improper use of time in these last days.
The outcome of these warnings is that Jehovah’s Witnesses have amongst the lowest average education and income levels of any religion in the United States, as shown in independent studies, such as the
U.S. Religious Landscape Survey 2008 by the Pew Forum. Higher education
1 provides benefits at both a private and social level, as detailed in this article; hence religious groups that attempt to take this choice from their followers deserve public scrutiny.

Shame isn't it to NOT want a higher education for the children.
One wonders how educated or UN-educated the translators of their Bible were?
Hummmmmmmmmmmmmm???????????
I've mentioned previously that my mother was a J.W. as were and are some of
her family.
I was absolutely shunned (never baptized as a J.W.) for becoming a police officer.
Really?
I was told by J.W. elders that it was o.k. to be a cop as long as I didn't carry a weapon.
Wow.
Never mind I went my career without ever firing a shot at anyone.
Fight? Heck yeah. Always to subdue a criminal or protect myself using the
"minimum amount of force to affect an arrest".
(almost always. I am human ya know.)
