Write always the truth, it's like a scalpel: it hurts excruciatingly, but it heals

There are many facts that are truths that are seemingly contradictory, but they aren't I don't believe. We just don't know how to view them, so we view only part of the truth.
The truth is 'what is'. That means the truth is both the 'heads' and the 'tales' of the coin. And this can often become quite paradoxical for we humans when we can't see or understand the coin en-total.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
It's just a game we play to try and get the people involved to be honest.

But the closest we will ever get to the truth, is honesty.
And you are so right. Not quite the same thing though.

I am sorry...but juridically, truth does exist.
Otherwise you would be tried for perjury, if you were called to the stand.
I think the term is Judiciously but I could be wrong. Anyway, I believe that every person called to the stand in the US has to speak the truth as they know it - in other words, be honest. Which is not the same thing.

But two things can seem contradictory and yet both can be the truth. LIke, The sky is blue. Well, not always. Predestination or free will? A case can be made for both.

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
Also. Judiciously and juridically.

In my country, people are forced to say the truth.
Not subjective truth.
My definition of truth is facts of reality that are in accordance with good moral values/virtues. And my definition of honesty is to speak that which others deserve to hear, and conceal matters undeserving.

Truth to me isn't mere facts of reality. If I was to tell the truth it would be according to what I feel you or others deserve to hear.

Telling facts isn't always telling the truth.

There's a default truth that should be told to everybody. Then there are personal and private truths that need to be concealed and protected.

Honesty and truth is not a tell all to all situation. Discretion is needed for wisdom in regards to telling the truth.

It's up to the media to tell objective facts that everyone deserves to hear that directly, or indirectly affect a democracy. Facts with an opinionated spin is not news. Facts can be conditioned or manipulated to reflect opinions.

If we are talking about government then we need to be talking about foreign policy, defense, laws, rights, infrastructure, rules and regulations of economy, social services and the tax code and it's necessity or lack thereof in government spending. Government is the only means of national protection and a unified nation of the people. Those are truth sticking points in regards to government.

It makes me wonder how one would handle paradoxes, such as the saying, "I always lie, and that's the truth".
Well...Freudian denial comes to mind.
There are people who even after hearing what they said in a tape recorder are brave enough to say. "it wasn't me".
You need so much cockiness to do that. ;)

Most people can't accept the truth. The truth is likely to cause great consternation and a person's most agonizing existential crisis.

This is why we have propaganda, BS, politics, fake news, fantasy novels/games, etc. Distractions from the horror that is the truth.

It hurts as excruciatingly as a scalpel on the flesh without anesthesia.

Standing ovation.

This is what journalists should do.
Abandon political correctness and choose Truth instead.
This sentence is not mine.

It's from a writer and journalist, Oriana Fallaci.

Do you agree with her? ;)

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn agrees in this essay called "Live Not by Lies":

That is not what socialism is. Goodness gracious
Okay...let's be more explicit. It's like a Father that whips his own children every now and then...
the father is the State and the misbehaving children are some wealthy guys who do naughty things... ;)
