Yes, there were more children killed in school shootings this year than on-duty police.

Even I could not believe this when I heard it. I had to look it up.

More school shooting child deaths than police gun deaths in 2022 | verifythis.com

Yes, in the United States if you are a child in school you are more likely to be shot than a cop. How did it get to this point?

Well, given that there are 60 million school children and 325,000 policemen, you are definitely much safer as a school child.

Being a policemen will make you 180 times more likely to be shot and killed.

This is a sad state to which a solution is close to impossible given the US second amendment.

Also, your link blocks me, I don't know if it's a problem or country specific.
Site called "Verify"
As of May 25, 24 children have been killed in school shootings and between 17 and 21 on-duty law enforcement officers have died from gunfire.

Is that a standard? You would have a point if that happens every single year.

17 at one school.

This kid was nuts. Would it have mattered if he had poisoned the water?

Gun control extremists twist the data to push their agenda.

They always do, and hone in on knee jerk emotions rather than calm rational thinking to solve issues like this.

From what I've heard about police brutality in the US, it seems the police force is so trigger-happy that a potential threat doesn't even have a chance to shoot at them, so it may make sense.
Also, aren't police officers better protected against violent thugs with firearms?
I doubt schoolkids are.

More interesting numbers:

  • Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year, or 6,849 every day. Most often, the gun is never fired, and no blood (including the criminal’s) is shed.
  • Every year, 400,000 life-threatening violent crimes are prevented using firearms.
  • 60 percent of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they knew the victim was armed. Forty percent of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they thought the victim might be armed.

One factor could be relative population size.
More school kids than cops.
This explains why more whites than blacks
are killed by cops.

Let's normalize that against other countries.

Not the blacks and whites part, but the cops and kids part...

Population of cops/kids versus murdered rate of cops/kids versus countries.

Let's see how that goes.

Come on, Brother... How do you create a statistic by counting things that never happened?

Police at least have a change to defend themselves.
School children have to rely on others.

Seems we are not doing a good job of defending our children.

The number of children shot in schools should be 0. Right wingers are pro-gun, anti-gun safety, anti-right to life.

So, why are more school kids not being killed in school in England, Australia, Canada, etc. and so on when they too have more school kids than coppers?
And being a cop isn't even one of the top 10 most dangerous jobs, and what did made it deadly was covid. So screw this "there's more kids" rubbish.
