OK, let's say that for the rest of your life you could only eat foods from one main cuisine, so which would you chose?
A second question, which cuisine do you believe set the standard for more other cuisines worldwide?
Under what category does simply grilled seafood and vegetables, good soup and red wine fall?
I don't even have to answer this.
the only thing that my country is really good at.
I don't know if you could call 'Mediterranean' a cuisine, but I'm partial to the foods of Italy, Sicily, Greece, Spain, Portugal. Lots of seafood, vegs done properly and interestingly, cheeses, some grains, fruits.
.
I don't know how I'd answer the second question, because so many cuisines have influenced so many others. For example, who'd have ever thought of Indian food including tomatoes?
I don't know, but if you make it and invite me over I'll tell you.
Do you like grilled salmon and white asparagus with a nice Cotes du Rhone wine?
Deal ...
I'm with Jay. I BBQ almost every day, year round. Top things up with steamed veggie or raw veggies de jour and a nice glass of skim milk.
Though, near and dear to my heart is Indian food. I normally BBQ with one of a dozen curry sauces.
Pickled lime curry hamburgers are so good they may be illegal.
Indian food = yes. I've made saag paneer, basically spiced pureed spinach with cheese cubes; I've tried making idli (rice and lentil cakes) from scratch, but they come out gummy. I even have the traditional steamer. So now I cheat and just use the packaged mix. The semolina variety (rava idli) are particularly good. Top these with some spicy mango or lime relish!
