Atheist: a person who believes no god exists
Do you think there are any misconceptions which often lead from atheism, agnosticism, gnosticism to atheist, agnostic and gnostic?-ist and -sim are crude, ineffective words that too often lead to misconceptions about one another.
Sure. A person who thinks a god does not exist is absent of a belief that God does exist. That would be called an atheist. Or a person that is unfamiliar with any god or incapable of forming a belief would also have an absence. The label for that is ignorant.@Curious George
Do you think it's possible for a person to be absence the belief that at least one God/god exist?
If it's possible, do you have label for such people?
Thanks for answer, so you do think it's possible for a person to be absence the belief that at least one God/god exist.Sure.
A god? Which god?A person who thinks a god does not exist is absent of a belief that God does exist. That would be called an atheist.
John is absence the belief that at least one God/god exist, he is familar with a lot of religions' Gods/gods but cannot believe thoseOr a person that is unfamiliar with any god or incapable of forming a belief would also have an absence. The label for that is ignorant.
Any godThanks for answer, so you do think it's possible for a person to be absence the belief that at least one God/god exist.
A god? Which god?
As long as a person thinks or believe one god does not exist, he then is an atheist?
Ignorant means lacking in knowledge. A person that is absent belief is either an atheist in the moment they lack belief or ignorant. Ignorant means lacking in some specific knowledge. For instance, a person could lack the specific knowledge to understand the proposition. If a person cannot define god how can he or she evaluate the proposition? If I wrote "dheugdhkwhdhsiw" is that true or false? If you cannot comprehend what I mean, then you cannot evaluate what my proposition. You are therefore ignorant in this respect, because you lack the requisite knowledge to evaluate what I am saying. Ignorant is not bad or negative we are all ignorant in many respects. As for John, well he is likely an atheist. I suppose I would have to discuss with him more. But if you ask him if the proposition "a god exists" is true, and John says no. Then he is an atheist.John is absence the belief that at least one God/god exist, he is familar with a lot of religions' Gods/gods but cannot believe those
Gods/gods exist, because he haven't meet any convincing evidence/argument for the existence of those Gods/gods.
Do you label John ignorant?
Please explain your definition for ignorant.
Does a person who know the conception of deity/deities but does not profess to believe in the actual existence of any deity, an atheist?Atheist: Anyone who does not use or know any conception of deity, or that does not profess to believe in the actual existence of any entities that would qualify as such.
No problem. If I may, apatheism and ignosticism are worthy additions to this glossary. Among the most useful terms of this whole family, as a matter of fact, despite being so little known.
The ignorant one is who believes in something that cannot be proven, and will argue black and blue that they are right.Sure. A person who thinks a god does not exist is absent of a belief that God does exist. That would be called an atheist. Or a person that is unfamiliar with any god or incapable of forming a belief would also have an absence. The label for that is ignorant.
I am well aware that you and I disagree. The ignorant one is who believes in something that cannot be proven, and will argue black and blue that they are right.
Do you believe if you cannot prove something and say you can, is that not a lie, be honest.I am well aware that you and I disagree.
That depends. Would you say that intent is paramount to lying?Do you believe if you cannot prove something and say you can, is that not a lie, be honest.
It depends on the intention, but yes it can be lying, if you don't know something, you don't know it, no matter how fluffy words mean to you, it doesn't make them right, emotions are not always truth. That depends. Would you say that intent is paramount to lying?
No, I meant is intent the most important part of the definition of a lie. If so, then a person can be wrong without lying. If intent does not matter, does perception? It depends on the intention, but yes it can be lying, if you don't know something, you don't know it, no matter how fluffy words mean to you, it doesn't make them right, emotions are not always truth.
It doesn't matter how you want to put it, you either know or you don't, if you do know then you should be able to prove it, if you can't then you don't know, you then only believe you know, can you see that ?.No, I meant is intent the most important part of the definition of a lie. If so, then a person can be wrong without lying. If intent does not matter, does perception?
I admit that i cannot figure out how to rebut your post.Any god
