For most people it would not, of course.
But belief (in the existence of deities) is such a deeply personal thing that I have little doubt that there is someone out there who can actually convince himself on that basis.
And that is ok, it really is. Perceiving it as some sort of problem creates a lot more hardship than accepting it does.
For most people it is a matter with only a marginal rational element, if even that.
At its best and most constructive theism is a matter of artistical, aesthetical inclination.
I don't think there is even a constructive way of attaining or channeling any attempts at "rationally" believing in some form of deity.
That is certainly fair. Personally, I think we should learn to accept that ultimately it is people who build deities (or at least the conceptions of same that are taught to others) and to be in peace with it. It is not supposed to be a big deal at all.
You know, I have posted replies to your posts, and visa versa off and on for some time now. sometimes we agree and sometimes we differ. But you are always and everywhere respectful and courteous and and hominems are nowhere to be found. I cannot begin to express just how refreshing that is in the online environment. So just in case it has not been said.....THANK YOU.
