Jesus Christ Superstar film credits - YouTube

I like the the punk rock Jesus Christ Superstar better!

"And they came unto the land of the Amphetamites, in the valley of NoNod, where there was much stuttering and where car radios and power tools could be had for a song. And He said unto them "Lo I say unto you, he who lives by the shard dies by the shard". (Punk Rock Bible)

CHAPTER 1
1 And so it happened that the punk writer bands of South Street started writing stories,
2 Called pieces,
3 Which were mostly about Boomers,
4 Who mostly died at the end,
5 Horribly,
6 With lots of broken rules along the way,
7 Including a lot of dabuse aimed at the reader,
8 And a lot of plot,
9 And a lot of plot manipulation,
10 And a lot of cardboard characters,
11 And a lot of obvious messages from the writers,
12 But no obscenities or pornications,
13 And nothing about despair or misery or what a big joke everything is,
14 And nothing about the end of the world or how evil Mankind is,
15 Which made punk fiction completely different from the kind of fiction written by authors who have their pictures on the back cover.

With respect to the portrayal of Christ, my favorite is

The Gospel of John (with Henry Ian Cusick, who played Desmond in the TV series, Lost). He looked just like I imagine Jesus would have looked like, and did a very good job of acting.

I like "The Greatest Story Ever Told," though it moves awfully slowly at times, and the music in "Jesus Christ Superstar" is wonderful. I love Andrew Lloyd-Webber.

I liked the Passion of the Christ. It brings out the true magnitude of Jesus' suffering during the last hours of his life. I felt that it was rather faithful to the Gospels as well.

Gibson says it bothered him that all the Jesus movies in the past never really addressed the physcial brutality of Jesus's suffering.....
