Your Ghost Experience

Zeroa

Dances With Mice
I've had a couple of strange experiences. I saw a friend of mine somewhere he shouldn't have been (namely, in our yard, 150 miles from his home) for about 10 seconds, only to get a call a few hours later that he'd died from an accidental overdose.

I had a dream about a dog we'd lost in a fire, probably a month and a half later, which was so real (down to the smell of his fur) that I can't help but believe that my dog came to let me know he was ok. I realize dreams are easily dismissed as the workings of the mind, and that I am being irrational, but it was really THAT real, and he was so much himself and alive and happy to see me... I just prefer to believe, in this case. :)

I did have an experience that does send shivers up and down my spine just thinking about it. One evening when my husband and I had gone out to the woods. I saw a large, black, shadowy mass, vaguely humanoid in shape, near the treeline. I thought my imagination had gotten the better of me, so I didn't say anything, but then my husband said, "Do you see that?" And then it moved. We got out of there FAST. I have no idea what it really was, but it sure did scare the pants off of both of us.

I have night terrors. Sometimes I have them almost every night. It is when your eyes are open and you can move around, but you are still dreaming. So I see things and it is creepy. I used to go running and screaming every time. I am pretty good at controlling that impulse now. I have had them since I was younger. I am beginning to think maybe I am not actually "dreaming" and are perhaps seeing across the "veil" if you will. Either that or my house is haunted by demons. One reason I am starting to think it isn't dreaming any more is a few years ago I had one where I got up and was walking to my hallway outside my door, and a voice was saying stuff like "you are not ready to see." And I said "yes I am please let me see," Then they said "very well." And everything turned weird colors in a flash and I started freaking out and running. It was terrifying. Back then I wasn't so sure about entities. Now with a better knowledge of energy and stuff I am starting to wonder. I want to get hooked up and see what kind of brain waves I have during my terrors.

I have had a subtler form of what you have. I have had anything talk to me, but sometimes I will open my eyes and see what looks like a plant or something moving. It is quite odd. When I was younger I would open my eyes and there would be what appeard to be a girl with really long hair just standing there, then I would focus in more on what I was seeing and then it would dissapear. It creeped me out!

We've had our stereo turn up and down on its own. We've had a brand new lava lamp just turn off on it's own and we hear stuff in one of our closests all the time. Sometimes the door will open on its own sometimes. I've seen a cat run up our steps when we don't even have a cat. At first I thought it was the dog until she came out of the kitchen about 30 seconds after I seen it.

I don't particularly believe in ghosts, but I did have an experience with what I thought was a ghost until I learned more about it in hindsight. I just posted this in another thread about ghosts but it fits here too:

Years ago when I was in my mid-teens I experienced sleep paralysis and for a while that made me believe in ghosts until I found out what it was. Sleep paralysis can occur when you wake up during REM sleep. During REM sleep, the body is paralyzed and unconscious, so if you wake up, you may find that you are conscious but still paralyzed for a few seconds or a few minutes. In addition, the experience is accompanied by hallucinations of some sort of dark being near you and an acute sense of fear.

From a first hand perspective, the experience is terrifying, and mine lasted for several minutes. I woke up and was completely unable to move. I couldn't see very well (mostly because I could hardly move my eyes and it was a dark room), and I felt that there was some sort of ghostly presence near me and coming closer. It was an extremely obvious, visible, and apparent being, not just a feeling. I couldn't move at all, even down to my fingers and toes, and I couldn't scream or cry even, but I was completely conscious. I had that sense of fear that one gets in a dangerous situation, like a fight or flight response, but was unable to do anything except panic and scream on the inside. When I was finally free I was terrified but went on and figured that ghosts exist. I have a very analytical type of personality but this experience was just so vivid.

But then I found out what it was. There are myths all over the world about ghosts, old hags, demons, and aliens coming to someone at night and restraining them, but it's an observable aspect of the unconscious mind during REM sleep sometimes.

The experience has happened to me twice since then, every couple of years, but now that I know it is a well-researched phenomenon of the brain, I just let the experience pass. It's interesting because the hallucination seems to trigger the fear center of the brain directly, meaning it gives you a fearful fight or flight response regardless of whether you acknowledge that it's a mere hallucination or you think it's real. So for the later two experiences, I kind of felt a detached fear during the experience, where my brain is afraid but my reason and consciousness just calmly lets it pass because I know what is going on.

I'm not sure what you mean by negative energy.

As far as a tingling sensation, that is somewhat accurate. When I say it comes with an acute sense of fear like a fight or flight response, I mean that gut feeling of dread that one gets sometimes. The "hair standing up on the back of the neck" feeling.

Woke up in the middle of the night when I was about ten and sat up in bed. Looked around to suddenly realize there was a shadow of a woman sitting right past the foot of my bed. She slowly turned her head and looked at me, then stands up and walks across the room while looking at me the whole time. I jumped under the covers and yelled for my parents. Freaked me out for years.

I do hear voices quite often. Nothing major. Either someone calling my name or a conversation I can't make out. And it's not someone else in the house, because it happens when no one is home.

I had a dog that used to sleep on my bed with me at night. he died when I was 7. The night he died I woke up, looked out my bedroom door and saw my dog standing there. I patted the bed and tel him to "come on" and laid back down and went to sleep. He was gone the next morning.

A number of years ago, I was working night shift at a nursing home. Maybe it was because I was surrounded by death at work, I don't know, but every night for about 3 months, whenever I passed a certain area on my way to work, it felt like I was not alone in my car.

Another time, I would spot this white light floating on the ceiling, sometimes there would be one over the graveyard we used to live by. My daughter, on occasion, would complain that when she opened the door to the refrigerator, the stove door would pop oven.

Another time, two weeks after moving into our new house, my 4 year old started screaming "The
skull! The Skull!!!" Screaming and crying. refusing to go into the house. Daddy finally had to go in and chase "The Skull" out before she would even consider looking at the front door. We didn't even have a tv at the time

me and my daughter were in the bathroom one night, we were talking in front of the mirror. We heard a very distinct clicking noise that sounded like someone taking a picture. we looked at each other, I asked her did you hear something? She said what was that? and we both listend for another minute, it happened two more times in about a two minute time period. It is a closed bathroom (not near outside windows or other noise) and after it happened we both said it sounded exactly like the noise our old camera made.
it had happened when me and her were talking and gave each other a hug, then the camera noise.

about a year later me and my boyfriend were alone in the living room. I walked towards him and he gave me a hug..in the middle of us hugging there was a very distinctive noise like a camera taking a picture and then a very brief light, like a camera flash. he asked me "what was that?'

i noticed both times it happened, the noise of a camera taking a picture it hapened during a warm moment of display of love/ affection

As part of my path, I practice what is referred to as spiritualism. In fact, being pagan and speaking to Mary as a child, was a result of my (then) involuntary interactions with one spirit in particular. That began when I was about five, but ended when I moved out of that house at age twelve.

Since then, I've lived in several places with spirit activity, including my new apartment. My daughter and I both sense these things, but also hear voices at all times of the day (no, we're not schizophrenic), experience energy fluctuations, and see apparitions. My new neighbor actually asked me on Halloween night, while we were handing out candy, if I'd experienced anything strange since I moved into the place. It was our first real conversation, but she has lived in the complex for ten years, and living in the place made her a believer.

Since I was experiencing these things anyway, I actively began researching them in 1996. I had already been a pagan for about four years, and been a Mary devotee since childhood. I worked with helping spirits make contact. I got excited when T.A.P.S. was given their own show on SyFy, because I had been following their work since receiving a computer in 1999.

Before anyone asks, I don't work with ouija boards. Unlike some, I don't necessarily think they let in bad things, but I prefer scrying or other methods that are tried and true when dealing with spirits.

My partner & I went to an estate sale. We were both in the kitchen along with at least 3 other people. The doors to the cabinets were open & in one cabinet there was a set of dishes. There was no one within at least 2 feet of this particular cabinet, & all of a sudden dishes came flying out.

I actually have several stories...

My old chruch was haunted and I believe things use to follow us home as well. I only ever saw one ghost but I will include other things to add up to what I saw.

I always can feel when something out of the ordenary when the paranormal is about to happen. I am not phycic or anything but I always seem to know it's coming. If I am wondering if something will happen I can get really nervous such as when alone in the old, haunted church but right before the paranormal incident happens I lose the nervousness and the paranoral even never scares me. I don't know why but I can'r explain it.

1) I use to live on a cement floor that was underground on one side and a walk out sliding door on the other side. Also, keep in mind that I was far away from any major road that might have a semi-truck or anything else like that that would cause the floor to even slightly move around or shake. Anyway, I was sitting on the floor doing electrical work whem that feeling that somehting was about to happen came over me. I looked at the floor where my screw driver was pointing to the wall. All of a sudden as fast as could be my screw driver did a 180 and pointed straight at me and came to a dead stop. I watched it do the half a turn in around 1 second.

2) Another thing was one night I was in my bedroom wide awake, when object sounded like they were flying across the room and hitting my wall. I would turn on my light over my bed and it all would stop. It did this every time I turned off the light. I checked the room for mice but a mouse could never have caused this banging from one wall to the other. I said "knock it off! I got to get some sleep!" It did! It just stopped and nothing else the rest of the night.

3) The old, haunted church was not very well insulated. You could hear the wind blow very easily. There were days when you would be in the church and the wind sounded like it was blowing at 100mph and then step outside to see that it was as calm and peaceful as it could get. The second you stepped foot in the church and the door shut the wind seemed as if were howling again. The second you opend the door it was just gone!

4) My grandma was at the haunted church and went to the nursery to nap. She quickly went down to the basement where everyone else was at and no one knew why. She over heard my mom talking to one of my aunts about the wierd things that happen there. My grandma said that she kept hearing voices coming from a wall. She thought it was someone outdside the building since it was an outside wall so she looked out the window. No one was there. She put her ear against the wall and the voices were whispering right there as plain as day. She said it sounding like mumbling so she could not understand them but they sounded as if they were right next to her.

5) This leads me to my stroy of actually seeing a spirit. I was in bed with my wife asleep on night when I woke up. I opened my eyes about half way to see a dark shadow with long hair stratling me (so sexual humour intended...the shadow really was sitting over me though). I opened up my eyes all the way wondering what my wife must have been doing. I said her name twice and asked why she was up. No answer!? I asked her again...then I realized that that was not my wife. I reached next to me keeping my eyes on the shadow. My wife was laying NEXT to me! My nerves started quaking and then just went away. I reached up and my hand moved through the shadow TWICE! As you can imagine, I am very wide awake at this time! The shadow never faided away. I told it to go away, I needed to sleep. I rolled on my side and went right back to sleep.

I hope you all do not think I am a nut. Trust me, ghost stories have always intrest me but I never truly believed them. I still think a lot of people let their imaginations get the best of them but after these experiences and those of others I trust, I can not deny that ghosts or at least energies exist.

No worries, the voice thing happens to me sometimes. I'l either hear incoherent whispering or someone saying my name and there won't be a single person home.

Yes, most of the time it is low whispering, without words that be made out. I'm partially deaf due to ear infections as a child, so I thought it was related to some instability or something in my ears until I realized my daughter heard it too. The name thing happened Sat in our new place, and my neighbor is concerned the place used to be the location of a cemetery. I think she's mistaken. As far as I know, it was the location of avocado trees. I do get footsteps and knocking noises though, especially around 'the Witch Hour' i.e. 3am.

I've always tried not to listen to that superstition, especially since 3 is actually what I consider my lucky number. I used to be OCD and had to do things in 3's and the number 3 crops up everywhere. It's supposedly some universal number. That and time is relative, even though I still have the recognition when it hits 3 am.

I am one of those people that they like. If there is activity in a place, and I stay in it long enough, it will increase. I have seen one ghost, and have heard several. None have ever scared me. The footsteps I heard when I was a teenager at a friends house didn't even register as paranormal until I thought about it many years later. The girl I saw in my hallway was very normal looking. When she "went" I was too amazed to be scared. We had a good time with her once we realized who she was.
Ahh, I lied. She did scare me before I knew who she was. She could open doors and walk on walls. Tell me that wouldn't scare someone if they didn't know who it was.

Well, when I was like 15, I stayed in the house of a girl in the hopes of ******* her (sorry for the rudeness :)) But after we had dinner, like at midnight, the lights of the second floor of her house suddenly turned on. We saw the light on the stairs and we were like: WHAT THE F****. At first we thought it was a thief, well, we thought it was "many thieves" lol, and we turned off the TV and hid. After a couple of minutes, we started to hear sounds, footsteps and stuff. And if u ask me, it seemed like the thieves didn't care about us hearing them, because they were doing quite a dance. We were literally paralized by fear and runned from the house (yes! let the thieves rob what they wish! lol) and we stayed the night in the house of her grandmother, which was near (and no, no sex, damn it).

So well, were that thieves? We will never know, but she said they stole nothing so... Creepy!

PS: Now that I think of it... Why we didn't call the police? Stupid teenagers

Yes, I have seen an apparition in my own home. My parents were visiting me about 5 years ago, so I was sleeping in a different bedroom than I usually do. I woke up and saw the figure of a woman next to the bed with her back toward me. Long black hair, long skirt, and I got the feeling it could have been an American Indian or Hispanic woman- naturally I thought it must be my mother, but I slowly realized it looked nothing like her. I wasn't scared at all, just really interested! As I was looking at this think it gradually just faded out and disappeared as I was looking at it. It never turned around so I never saw the face. It was only after the thing was gone that I started feeling scared, but even then, I was more amazed.

My house is a duplex, built in 1989. I hear noises and most of them come from my neighbors or my cat, but some noises that I have heard are not so easily explained. Even so, I have never SEEN anything else.

The only other really strange experience I had was when I was about 12 years old, living in a different state. One night I was in bed and I saw light coming through my bedroom window. It was exactly as though someone were shining a flashlight through the blinds (which were closed). I was petrified and couldn't move. There was a large, tall bush in front of the window so whoever, whatever it was had to be in front of the bush, therefore, right at the window. I never saw anything else like that again. I suppose it could have been a human prowler but I was too scared to go see. It certainly wasn't car headlights or anything like that.
