your religion is not important

I've studied all the world's big religions. I've certainly studied Christianity, especially Catholicism. I've read your Christian scriptures several times. Evangelization is a core teaching of Christianity since that mythic day of Pentecost, although its emphasis goes in and out of fashion. Currently it is a trendy thing again in Rome. About the only people Catholics are NOT supposed to evangelize are Jews. Please visit the following official Catholic site: New Evangelization

Why has no priest ever told you that? Because the homilies given at the Mass are bare bones basic stuff. They are not adult level education. The priests I have talked to say that adult Catholics are responsible to educate themselves by reading books and keeping in tough with the goings on. Occasionally parishes offer seminars and classes, but attendance is a mere pittance. Most Catholics seem to feel they don't need anything past Confirmation.

Often I find many Catholics in forums are a cut WAY above. I learn a lot about Catholicism talking to them. And they do help me keep abreast of the major things going on in their church (such as the New Evangelism). We have some really excellent well taught Catholic apologists here in Religious Forums.

I've been through it all ad nauseum. Since 2008, I've been posting strictly in religious based forums, and have covered pretty much all the bases I can handle.

I've seen a lot.

... the real sincerety being to do God's work.
Does your idea of doing God’s work include doing what Jesus says to do, in the gospel stories? Where do your ideas come from about what God’s work is, for you? Do your ideas about God’s work say anything about what to do in Internet discussions? For me, it includes practicing and promoting personal development and community service, with love for nature. I get sidetracked from that sometimes, but that’s mostly what I see as God’s work for me in online neighborhoods. When I first started many years ago, It was mostly to free myself from prejudices and delusions. Then it was trying to learn to be a friend to some people I saw being marginalized and and stigmatized. Also during all that time it was to practice fellowship across the widest belief divides. Now it’s to practice and promote personal development and community service, with love for nature.

I haven't learned anything new or had a positive experience discussing religion in a very long time.

...Usually it's people talking over other people to get their own points of interest across. There's nothing productive or truly friendly in that, IMO. It all seems agenda based, which comes off as insincere to me -the real sincerety being to do God's work.
I had another thought about what this might be about. Maybe it’s about not being able to have the kinds of discussions with people that you would like to have. If that’s a problem for you, don’t feel lonely. I’ve always had that problem in Internet discussions.

As usual, you just can't leave a post without some gratuitous insult for skeptics. Is that your understanding of the Golden Rule? Is that what they teach you in church?

Incidentally, @Landon Caeli is not a skeptic. He's one of yours - a Christian, Catholic I believe. His illogic is as Christian as yours.

Well played. You insulted another Christian in error and "most skeptics" deliberately. Maybe that's why he doesn't care about your religion.

This sort of illogic (and yours) IS common to most skeptics. See, you learned something today at RF, sparing me the trouble of asking you, WHY ARE YOU HERE?

your religion is not important and nobody cares what you think or believe about it.

...Nobody cares what you think about anyone else's religion either.

I believe importance depends upon goals. If a person wishes to live forever in a world without sin then Christianity is the only religion that provides that.

This rings hollow. As evidence, this forum. And me. I care about other people's religions, and came here to learn about them. And I think they are important. I just dont rate one as more important than the other.

I believe that leaves you subject to the whims of fate.
