So now you've made it. You're with your god and family and friends. Since you're a soul you don't need to eat or drink, and there aren't any material things in heaven (since jesus didn't think it was necessary) and all the "bad" people are not around. Now what? Do you just praise god and kneel and say prayers all day for the rest of eternity? Get kinda boring wouldn't ya think?

In Mormonism, the religion I mostly grew up in, if you've attained the highest level of heaven you become a god, inheriting all the powers you believe that God has. I'm not so sure I want to become a god, however.

Boring? Not at all! Imagine the greatest feeling of joy you can ever have on earth, then imagine it amplified a million times......imagine heaven. Not a single boring moment. God is so stupendously glorious that our mouths will hang open for at least the first few eons trying to absorb all that glory and majesty and splendor! We won’t feel like we HAVE to sing a hymn or something ridiculous like that, we will burst out in spontaneous praise at such a magnificent being.

There will be no mirrors in heaven. Looking at ourselves does not bring us lasting happiness never has. However looking and experiencing and being drawn into something or someone that is so much greater than us captivates our attention, rivets our hearts and grabs our interest. And this God will do, continuously, for ever and ever. Never a dull moment, always something new to learn that interests us, never a lack of beauty, never a lack of love, never a lack of absolute contentment.

The main attraction in heaven is God. Does that sound boring? If it does then I submit you haven’t thought about what kind of Glory he has.

What is there to learn? You learn so you can adapt, but in heaven your goal is attained. And really just praising for eternity? Woo woo woo woo is all you would hear in heaven? Forever? Yeah, it sounds great..........

Firstly remove this "Now" from your "Question", Because there is No "Now" in "Heaven".

"Heaven" is beyond "Time", and the word "Now" is used in "Time" or for "Time".

_/\_ Chinu.
You're not there yet. Time begins when you get there. That is the NOW.

I have this same problem with "heaven", I think reincarnation shows more potential, at least you get a second go, or just becoming one with the cosmos.

Heaven, I feel easier to accept as a state of religious love or bliss when we submit to God hole heartedly. And that is not for everyone of course. ;)

So god is like a drug and if we're good enough to be invited to his party we can get high on god and never come down. Sounds awesome.

What is there NOT to learn is the real question. God does not mind you knowing how he does things or how he makes things or how he runs things. Now we see as through a darkened glass but then we will know fully. In an instant? Maybe. I tend to think othewise.

God is truth, and there are so many things that he knows that he has not revealed yet. And im confident he will do so during eternity. For what purpose? Not so that you can adapt but so that you will be amazed and in awe.

Knowing in heaven means knowing God. And i doubt God will put a limit on you and say 'no more' you can only know me this much and not more.

God is infinitely complex and intricate and smart. He will not hinder you from coming to him again and again to find out more and more about him and his ways and in the process be amazed more and more.

Oh the depth of the wisdom of God! It will take more than a hundred eternities to plunge to the bottom of it. (If that is possible)

God is not like a drug at all. Drugs alter your state of consciousness. God wont do that to us. This isn't fake happiness we are talking about this is the real thing.

What God would certainly need to do, is to enlarge our capacity for joy. He can do this for all eternity.

Two things come to mind, first the verse where Jesus says 'well done thy good and faithful servant enter into the JOY of the Lord'

How happy can God be? Is there a limit to his happiness? I would say no. Neither will there ever be a limit to ours. Our capacity for joy will never diminish. This joy is so to be desired that its the welcoming words he gives to us as we enter eternity!

Its like he is saying. WELCOME TO JOY! And what is it that will make us this happy? God's glory.

Jesus prayed to the Father (and his prayers are always answered), that we would be where he is, to SEE HIS GLORY!

Yip there is no drug, no illicit sex, no adrenalin rush, no porn, no two-bit God belittling pleasure here on earth that will even come close to the joy we will receive while beholding such glory.

Heaven is an eternal adventure. But unlike Material existence, which is filled with illusions due to ignorance, selfishness due to ignorance, suffering due to ignorance,...the Spiritual existence is one of Love, unity, joy and happiness- there is no ignorance.

I am a Hindu btw. I don't know if you were accepting answers from anyone other than Christians since you mentioned Jesus and Biblical ideas only, but I decided to respond anyway because a lot of atheists innocently forget that there are other religions in the world besides Christianity.

Continuation: In the specific Hindu religion that I grew up in, God is considered to be the greatest Enjoyer. This does not mean selfish enjoyment, it refers to a passion for life, a passion for experiencing life. Someone above said that in Heaven there is no eating, drinking etc. But from what I understand from my religious philosophy, 'Heaven' is full of these things, full of pleasures, enjoyment, experience.

in Christianity it teaches that we do have bodies, so we may need to eat and drink, and when did you think there wouldnt be material things?

in the bible it talks about there being a new heaven and a NEW EARTH, so what makes you think humans go to heaven? as in the immaterial plan?

is this purely for christians or are other religions involved in this to? cause you done to know alot about the doctrine of heaven

And amongst all this love, euphoria and self-satisfaction it seems something has been forgotten. While you’re partying with the Deity and enjoying ‘absolute contentment’, what of God’s created world where suffering and wretchedness continues unabated? I’m sorry but the image you present doesn’t cast God (or the benefactor) in a good light and it prompts the question of how something can be praised and glorified in the context of such polar extremes?

Excellent point. How could you live with yourself knowing all the suffering was going on on Earth?
