Yep. That's really useful. Your typical public pool has a 3 m (10 ft) board from which you can jump without breaking anything. (It may still hurt when you land on your belly or back.)Or better yet, find a swimming pool that's already there and has a diving platform.
I think there was a worry they'd break.I've never been particularly afraid of going on a bridge. What frightened you about crossing over a bridge? I assume you mean by car or perhaps walking on a walkway on a bridge? They're pretty sturdy I would say.
Yeah, you could. I've met people that have broken bones for much less! Its all how you land. There's no way that I would die or break my back from the second story window that's 6ft unless I perposly landed on my back or head first. I seriously doubt that I would even break my leg. Anchlel or foot maybe but probably nothing else to And even that I doubt.
We had a 5 and 10 m platform at the local public pool when I was a kid.Yep. That's really useful. Your typical public pool has a 3 m (10 ft) board from which you can jump without breaking anything. (It may still hurt when you land on your belly or back.)
But you can't build up to that height. It's either the 1 m or next the 3 m. And it's embarrassing if you have to go back because the little kids are waiting.

I didn't know them personally but word of the incident got round campusHe wasn't nicknamed "Pud" was he. When i was at uni a guy tried to fly out of a window and died

One time I jumped in a pool thinking it was the deep end. I found out to my misfortune that it was not the deep end and I really hurt myself. Oh well, live and learn if we live and learn. We had a 5 and 10 m platform at the local public pool when I was a kid.
I only went off the 10 m once, landed on my back, almost drowned, and that was the end of my high-diving career.
I remember years ago some who tried LSD jumped out of windows thinking they could fly. Not only did they not fly, at least one died. Diane Linkletter - Wikipedia. That story almost seems like a kind of trope at this point.
I even know more than just one person - during my uni years of course - who jumped off balconies, out of windows, tall rocks, etc and ended up seriously messing themselves up.
Fortunately I didn't know anyone who died or ended up with some kind of serious paralysis - the worse instance was a guy who absolutely shattered the **** out of both of his legs trying to jump from a balcony into a pool while wasted and missing the pool completely.
I don't think he walked for well over a year but the next and last time I saw him, at a different institution while we finished off our qualifications, he seemed to be back on his feet and was laughing about it. By that time, we were both well into our 20s and were kind of struggling to recover from what had started to become possible substance abuse problems lol.
Uni is a very weird and fun period of life. Often very destructive though. Experimental behaviour can often be very socially backwards.
Remember when the Devil tempted Jesus and told him to jump off the cliff? Jesus told him to get lost, he wouldn't do that. You might end up more scared of heights after hurting yourself.
But we have a fear of heights for a reason.
It is becoming to blase' around heights can be dangerous. Familiarity breeds contempt and all that.
It is possible to keep your fear of heights and mindfulness of what could happen if you fall, while overcoming that fear by placing yourself in high places.
I end up on high roofs and ladders but at the same time allow my fear to guide me about what is not safe for me.
We are all different and it does not really matter if I am more or less scared of heights than other people,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but at the same time it is not good to have a overpowering fear of heights (or maybe of anything) that causes us to freeze in certain situations.
Interestingly the middle line of windows in that building is not much higher than the front door. Jumping onto soft grass from the middle line looks safe enough. Then again I know someone who stepped down from a few rungs up a ladder and managed to break his leg and spend 3 months in hospital and is still on crutches.
Maybe work up to it so that your bones have time to strengthen.
USA or UK, second floor means different things.

I saw a video where an anesthesiologist used 'Ketamine Therapy' to help people deal with depression. Its a real anesthesiologist who does a lot of videos about his work which usually is just keeping people under during surgery. While I'm sure some people have died or suffered as a result of taking LSD, I think those acid-related casualties dwarf in comparison to the amount of death and suffering caused by things like obesity, driving cars, overworking, cigarettes/alcohol, poor mental health and a whole lot of other bull**** lifestyle choices that humanity considers to be vital (when they aren't) while a person could take LSD once or twice in the span of their entire life and spend the rest of their existence convinced that it permanently changed the course of their life for the better.
Roman numerals didn't have a zero. That was only introduced together with Arabic numerals (which really are Indian). I guess some regions didn't get the memo.In france the 1st floor is the ground floor. It caused me some confusion at first

Germany, like the UK, starts counting at zero and we also have floors with negative numbers.
So the (first) basement is 0 and below that is -1?What memo?
We have negative floors.

Or are you missing a 0th floor like we miss a year 0?
