Firstly, Here in Australia you can get the government to loan you the cost of your degree. You pay it back out of your annual tax return IF the degree gets you a job that earns you enough to pay it back!
Second, yes, industry pays for most of the research that is done primarily to advance...
And that's why we have science.
If we just answered these questions with "god did it", we would not need further investigation. Our civillization would stop advancing. That's my main concern about religeon, it holds us back.
If you really do have an inquiring mind, that's great man...
I'd have to strongly disagree with this. That's like comparing a few blades of grass to the entire ball park!
Anyway, thats not my point. Nature is so amazing and awe inspiring, to claim that there is something even more awesome that created it, degrades the awesomeness of "mother nature"...
No faith is required.
We can see, touch, smell, hear and taste nature, we ARE nature.
I can see what you are trying to say, and I would agree... "we feel the same about nature as you do about god" The only difference being, we don't need faith, as our "god" is real, it can be tested...
You may be right, one day we may know more about biochem and maybe we will be able to predict mutations. Until such time, for purely practical purposes, it's "random".
Well in that case, I see your point. It also explains why Thief and others think that evolution suggests we all got here by random accident.
I however don't think "random" mutations could ever be predictable, so it's fair to call them "random" mutations.
So are you suggesting that there is some, (as yet undiscovered) force guiding the "random" mutations?
If that were the case, natural selection would not be needed, yet we know it happens.
This is your "proof" that the bible is true?
These "proficies" sound pretty damn vague to me. Some clever interpretations could make them applicable to just about anything.
Reminds me of John edwards or other such cold reading charletons.
I'm sorry, but they would have to be a lot more...
