Well yeah, you always have a choice in life. i understand that some are more difficult than others (obviously) but you still make the decisions in the end. If you knowingly and repeatedly choose to hurt other people, (severe enough to be considered physical or emotional assault) i really...
Well I always thought you could never really sum up a person until you were at their funeral. When you die, it doesn't matter how many cars you owned, how many A's you got in school or how many frubals you have on RF *cough**cough*
All that you leave behind is the impact you've left on people's...
I see your point. I'm just so tired of talking to people face to face about religion. 99.9999% of the time they spend more time thinking of ways to prove your beliefs wrong than actually listening to the words you say.
I honestly think that one of two possible scenerios await those evildoer's on the other side.
1) there's no hell. The fear of it was enough to serve it's deterring purpose. It's not like someone's gonna come back and ruin the secret. Or
2) there is a hell but it's not full of pain and...
I'm not going to just tell you why you shouldn't believe something. If we get in a heated debate then I'll argue my points but i'm not going to just start preaching to my computer screen. :P
Refering to god with the male pronouns made sense in ye olde bible times. When they thought of a supreme commanding being they thought of a buff guy. I highly doubt he has any need for a reproductive organ. :P
Feel free to challenge any statement I ever make, I'd actually be disappointed if you didn't. But I will not change my stance on this. When one of you think of someone trying to convert you, you probably envision a civil old person trying to make the case for their religion's merit. But when i...
(excuse me if my explanations aren't too clear, i've been awake for 40 hours and counting)
Reductionism is a procedural thought process in science. Basicially reductionism dictates that any complex object or concept in this universe can be defined by the sum of it's parts.
This becomes...
What i mean is i think of that initial spark of life (the current theory is a bunch of atoms got charged by a bolt of lightning or something similar to that) and both logic and intuition dictate, woopty frickin do a bunch of atoms got zapped. But no, those groups of atoms, from the second they...
I remember seeing that meat is murder video, I tried to make everyone i knew stop eating meat. Which of course didn't happen. So now i just make everyone in my family eat like 33% less meat. It's realistic but still effective. :)
So basically if God were to show himself to the everyone the purpose of life would be destroyed. And by "dark ages being so dark" i meant no economical, political, or technological growth in this life because everyone was preparing for the next life.
Well then if hate and crime were gone completely then life wouldn't be that different from the afterlife would it? If that is a valid assumption then life by definition would be pointless.
Oh and i don't mean science as in collective knowledge. I mean the modern way people comprehend the universe and all things within. By means of reductionism, trying to explain something extremely complicated by breaking it down and saying it is what the sum of all it's parts is.
