I really can't agree with this MORE! I don't think "online" christians are different then in person either, they are just more apt to speak out online, be their true selves. Doesn't remind me of the Jesus I've read about.
You threw a pie at me, so I'm gonna throw one at you? I am not about to trust in a god that plays those foolish games.
This was posted in 2010, but glad I came across it anyway. I remember being told, over and over that even if I turn my back on god he would never ever leave me. Yet...
You mention my security being my business but when I was following Jesus, or trying, I was told at every turn, it was my job to carry the message. I think that the main thing that I did go along with in the bible was the fact that I was to place others above myself.
PS I'd like to add, that...
That was one thing that was a problem for me with some believers, I couldn't say "I knew" something when I couldn't prove it, not even to myself, not if I was going to be honest. If someone says they know, the bible says they know nothing. I suppose that's one of those cases of taking it out...
I think I mentioned, and if I didn't I will say it here. I believed I was born-again. Others thrived on telling me they could plainly see the holy spirit in me. No, it is only contradictory to your belief, which I understand that belief, I once believed.
The bible says you must be born...
You must be talking dinosaur farts since gas didn't come until after they croaked:yes: I guess I should have checked to say if I could say farts:facepalm:
Thank you for this, good read, I agree. There are so many teachings in the bible that I have incorporated into my life, or believe. Again, I just can't go with people that "assume authority" as you mentioned.
I think he walked, most people did didn't they? I think owning beasts was for the wealthier folks. I imagine you'd have to have some major dough to own and feed a dinosaur, especially vet bills:(
Well the dinasours were way before Jesus right? So I guess it's a joke you're making. I agree with Sunstone in that, both sides should be taught/displayed. Our world is like that though, people teach what they want us to know. I mean, if I don't believe in the bible, I'm not going to teach...
I'm supposed to believe what you say without any proof. Since there is just your belief, why should I believe yours over anyone elses thoughts/beliefs? I am glad we all can choose what to believe. I for one left fairy-tales behind when I was a child. Then I lived the life of a born-again...
I don't see where anyone can win this. Everyone wants to believe his/her way is right, but there are only a few things we can discover that prove something "here and there" but there is nothing anyone has ever discovered that is "proof positive". If there is, I haven't seen it or heard of it.
well yes, but as you know, christian teaching is that all those authors were inspired by the holy spirit. I wanted to also add that there is some fear attached to the change in my beliefs, or lack of beliefs, and that is the part where christians talk about the holy spirit being removed from a...
My only thought is that the bible was written by man, and man is imperfect. I was a christian, a born-again, jumped through the hoops, and I did believe, I truly did. My issues arose when I began reading the bible word for word. There were all those good things I'd been taught, but the things...
but I want to give this a try, finding others I can talk to about what has happened to me.
I was a born-again christian, or I believed I was, and it was my life for almost 30 years. I am 61 now, and about a year ago (not sure when, didn't write the date down) I just woke up not believing...
