Can explicit atheists ever really understand atheism?

The quote is applied to the assertion of guilt. If the prosecution offers no evidence then the assertion of guilt is dismissed without evidence. And skeptics did dismiss QM. The operative words would be "can be dismissed", not "must be dismissed".

Can explicit atheists ever really understand atheism?

If the assertion of guilt lacks evidence then guilt can be dismissed without evidence. It is the person accusing someone of murder that is making the assertion. QM was dismissed as a supported theory until there was evidence to support it. Unlike the claims of theists, scientists didn't...

Can explicit atheists ever really understand atheism?

Really? It is usually theists who complain about "Scientism" always requiring evidence.
  4. Thermos aquaticus

Can explicit atheists ever really understand atheism?

No, it doesn't appropriately fit on Atheism because it is Theism that carries the burden of proof. The person making the positive claim for the existence of something has the burden of proof. The skeptic does not carry that same burden.

I've Sacrificed my belief in Evolution for Religion

What features would a fossil need in order for you to conclude that Genesis is wrong? Or will no evidence ever change your mind? So you reject common ancestry between Chihuahuas and Great Danes?

Can explicit atheists ever really understand atheism?

Bigfoot might be a good example. I think it would actually be pretty cool if Bigfoot were real. An anthropomorphic and bipedal ape wandering around the woods would be a really cool species. However, I have seen a lot of bad evidence for Bigfoot, no real good evidence for Bigfoot, and a lot of...

Can explicit atheists ever really understand atheism?

"What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence."--Christopher Hitchens

Can explicit atheists ever really understand atheism?

Agnostic = without knowledge of deities Atheist = without belief in deities One is not the other. One can be a gnostic atheist, which would be those who claim to know that there are no gods. One can be an agnostic atheist (like myself) who don't believe in gods but admit that we currently...

The Creationist's Argument and its Greatest Weakness

It is an argument from popularity. It is a logical fallacy.

    The Evolution Chamber: Piltdown Man

The Shroud of Turin is a fake, therefore Jesus never existed. If you think that argument is flawed, then yours would be as well.

    New scientist Gregg Braden

Every primate species has DNA that sets it apart from other primate species. That's why they are separate species. Two chromosomes fused into a single chromosome. They didn't disappear. Every species has extraordinary abilities. The cheetah can run faster than any other land mammal. The...

    New scientist Gregg Braden

Neanderthals were our cousins with whom we share a common ancestor. How is that a problem? It still doesn't make all of the evidence for common ancestry between humans and other apes go away.

    New scientist Gregg Braden

False. Common ancestry between humans and other apes is not speculative. We have the evidence, and mountains of it. ERVs: Evidence for the Origin of Humans

    New scientist Gregg Braden

What science are you basing this on? How did the author determine that there were no "go-betweens"? That claim is definitely going to require some evidence.

Where Do You Put Your Faith?

Scientists do know that an argument from ignorance is a logical fallacy. Either there is evidence for this proposed force or there is not.

How we know that there was no Flood of Noah.

That claim is made because the science runs counter to their religious beliefs, not because it is bad science.

Seeing things in their past? You are full of beans!

You are making stuff up when you say that flying a cesium clock around in an airplane changes the entropy within the clock in such a way that it affects the way in which is measures time.

What Causes or Motivates the Anti-scientists?

Luckily, the undergrads I have interacted with have had a strong educational background. Of course, they were part of summer research programs that usually attract motivated or top students, so that may have something to do with it. They seemed more than capable of grasping complex scientific...

Seeing things in their past? You are full of beans!

That is something you have made up from whole cloth.

Seeing things in their past? You are full of beans!

Again, that is something you made up.
