Oh dear, you just opened another beloved subject of mine! :D
Here is a quote of my OP in another forum a few years ago:
What is the TRUE reason God banished Adam & Eve from Eden?
Most of you will say: “as punishment because they ate from the forbidden fruit, of course!”
...Are you SURE...
No need for special treatment :)
And when I said that I am offended, I didn’t mean by you! I meant by the fact that the words to describe mankind are masculine. I hope that was clear! ;)
Hahaha… so true! :cool:
.
It is a man’s world, dear. “Anthropos” is also masculine, even though it means “human”.
“Mankind”, “man” to be exact, is also masculine. Therefore, so is “human”.
As a woman, I’m very much offended, but what can I do?... o_O
Indeed! :D
.
I’m not sure what wasn’t accurate, but I’m glad we agree:
no evidence is just that: no evidence. And therefore we should not exclude the possibility that at some point we might find evidence. Keeping an open mind never hurts, right? :)
.
~~~
BTW, we should not forget the fact that the first human was created in the “same image and likeness” of god, according to Genesis. I just remembered that, because of another post in the other thread.
~~~
Just a bit off topic:
According to a point of view, the first human was male AND female. Not two different beings but one with both genders. Since God doesn’t really have a gender but is rather both (or none),the first human was created in this “same image”, having both genders, and was named...
Thousands of years ago, people perceived thunder as divine punishment. It took them a while to observe the fact and finally understand that it’s just a weather phenomenon.
Until some centuries ago, all respected scientists believed that the earth is still and the sun orbits around it. When...
And, since you like dictionaries so much:
have faith in someone
to believe someone; to trust someone to do or be what is claimed. I have faith in you. I know you will try your best. We have faith in you and know you can do the job well.
The Free Dictionary
.
Nice try. :p
Justin Bieber is "god" metaphorically, but is “I have faith in you” also a metaphor…?
I don’t know about you, but when I tell my kid that I have faith in her (that she can do this or that), I’m being 100% literal.
.
Mary is a whole new topic.
She is considered human but then again she was also born “without sin” so it’s not that simple... Exactly like Dionysus mother :rolleyes:
.
Why? Because it's "inconvenient" to answer?
You do realize that the English language is still alive and therefore cannot be strictly “framed” in a dictionary, right?
Would you care to try again to answer to my question?

NewGuyOnTheBlock and Sapiens:
Have you ever heard or used the phrase: “I have faith in you” from one person to another?
What is that? What does it mean?
.
.
One of the best sources I have ever read so far for the bases of Christ and Dionysus, is the book: Ι.Χ.Θ.Υ.Σ. by professors Straros Theodosiou and Manos Danezis, but it’s only in Greek. Sorry :(
Another very interesting and very carefully written book, is Greek Religion by Walter Burkert...
<<…The meaning of Christmas is: God became man to make man God. That God became man (according to the Christians) generally all know and understand: God is the Holy Trinity. One of the three persons of the Trinity, the Son of God the Father (who is also the one God), took the human body (and...
Hmm… I’m not sure about this… Dionysus Zagreas was considered to be an actual historical man (travelling from Asia Minor to Greece, with a stop on island Naxos). The attributes given to him are very much alike Jesus: actual man, son of a god (Zeus), actually sacrificed himself and then...
Do you really think that this is what's important about the narrative presented? ...If it is called "Secret Mark" or "Clements' Letter" or even... "Tallulah"?
.
...And from the Acts of John, as promised:
He bade us therefore make as it were a ring, holding one another's hands, and himself standing in the midst he said: Answer Amen unto me. He began, then, to sing an hymn and to say:
That’s a classic ceremonial formation, as most of you already know...
From the same source you gave, just the next sentence:
<< Although there has been some controversy over the letter, today it is generally agreed that the letter is authentic correspondence written by Clement. >>
So, what's your point?
