    Question about Skanda.

I know something of Lord Vishnu, and his followers. I know a lot of Lord Shiva and his followers. And of course I am most knowable on the Great Mother. But I know nothing about Skanda. I know he is the god of war, and that he is a very popular Tamil god. Wikipedia is a dry source, and...

    Identify the God

I think, then, you may refer to a Burmese or Theravada forum. The Southeast Asians take a different view of Vedic culture. They remember Rama and Krishna, and such, but not as people from India might. It could very well be the water god as remembered by the Buddhists. Sadly what it could be...

    Can one convert to Hinduism?

One could say the same of Tibetian Buddhism, which is a mixture of Mahayana Buddhism, Bon, and Shakti/Shiva Tantra. It's a beautiful thing really.

    Our vastness

Most of the scholarly works I read place great stress on the diversity of Hinduism. Is it mostly sectarian works that are like this?

    Basics of fear

Yes. When you hate something, it unbalances you like greed or lust or pride might unbalance you. I don't want to toot my own horn, but Kali is supreme at dispelling fear, her hands literally say "Fear not". Shiva, Hanuman and Narasimha do well at this as well, and in Buddhism, Tara and Kwan Yin...

    Shaktism and Shaivism for beginners.

Huh. When did Shaiva tradition abandon the Puranas? This is all new to me.

    Basics of fear

To expand on Vishvavajra, I would say that fear is the opposite of attachment. "I want this NOT to be with/about/near me". The Fear of Death is conquered with Kali by her death-clad nature, which is to show that death itself is a good thing in regards our egos.

    Shaktism and Shaivism for beginners.

This is new to me. Why is that? *Feels lucky that we Shakti have exactly two Puranas, plus the Devi Mahatmya. ...*
