Why do Black men always turn to Islam in jail and not Christianity?

Wouldn't that be a demotion then?

Some thoughts about the difference between Hinduism and the Abrahamic Faiths

Hey KingSolomon. Welcome to the forums! I hope you have a great time here. Just an FYI - when you quote somebody you have to put [ / quote] (but without the spaces) at the end of what's you're quoting! Should do it automatically, just leave it in :) I edited this in the post you just made, so...

A law that forbids ritual slaughter (halal, kosher)

    How is it keeping?

A law that forbids ritual slaughter (halal, kosher)

There's a kabbalistic explanation too. Yo Altfish what part of the UK are you based in?

A law that forbids ritual slaughter (halal, kosher)

Ah there's various explanations for it. For me personally, I don't think God has any intention to give us an easy life or make things nicer for us - that's quite evident from the state of the world!

Why do Black men always turn to Islam in jail and not Christianity?

Apparently it is a real phenomenon. Although prison officers and former inmates say that often it's because as a Muslim you get "perks", like more breaks, better food during Ramadan and are included within a protective group. Conversion to Islam in prisons - Wikipedia However, in the UK at...

A law that forbids ritual slaughter (halal, kosher)

Yeah it's weird huh! The image is that it is cleaner and safer and so on.

A law that forbids ritual slaughter (halal, kosher)

Actually male circumcision is near-universal in American society! Actually it's very common among South Koreans now too, cos it was impressed on them by the Americans around the time of the Korean War.

Why do Black men always turn to Islam in jail and not Christianity?

While of course there is a massive difference in scale, there are Islamic groups in the UK who are down LGBT stuff. I knew someone in Manchester who was part of Imaan, a specifically LGBT+ Islamic organisation, who would meet for prayers and reading the Qur'an etc. The Muslim Alliance for Gender...

A law that forbids ritual slaughter (halal, kosher)

You aren't speaking from any actual concern for animal welfare here though, otherwise you'd see that prior stunning is approved for the purposes of humane slaughter for one, and that for two animal slaughter is by definition inhumane. So if you care about animals, become a vegetarian at least...

Advaita: How does Nirguna Brahman transforms into Saguna Brahman?

My question is, have you spent time meditating on your mantra, or on the sense of your own being, or on your own consciousness, so as to seek out the answer to these questions and your own place in relation to them?

A law that forbids ritual slaughter (halal, kosher)

Animal welfare agencies, which enforce rules regarding humane slaughter (somewhat of an oxymoron, IMO) all agree that prior stunning is the key factor. That means that the animal is instantly rendered unconscious and therefore unaware of its slaughter, whether that is by having the throat cut...

A law that forbids ritual slaughter (halal, kosher)

For starters, if you really care about animal dignity and suffering, stop eating meat. Otherwise it's just an excuse for protesting about Muslims. Secondly, yeah, slaughter without stunning is less humane than slaughter with it. Here in the UK, between 80% and 90% of halal slaughter is carried...

    Columbia personifies USA

Interesting! Cool country. Might visit. Hey plenty of Midlanders have an accent quite different to RP!

    Columbia personifies USA

I guess anyway the Australians never had that break from Britain and Britishness like the Americans did. Probably around the time your English grandfather (what accent did have - broad Cockney, thick Yorkshire...?) came it was more along the lines of a British region than a country!

I'm British and republican. So I think you are on firm ground! You been to the UK? Ireland?

    Columbia personifies USA

Thanks lewisnotmiller! I tend to feel that if there is any country with a culture closest to the UK's, it's Australia.

    Either, actually!

Is there an Australian equivalent of that national myth?

"Mormon Leader: Nicknames for Faith are 'Victory for Satan' "

Not a universal trait amongst Christians.
