It was fun while it lasted. But it had meaning to it.
No. At that point, I'd be doing something similar that perhaps some nontheist do when they see religious violence. This is, in part my point.
I was talking about the response you had with KenS.
Because if you know what the price is, you can know if you are being screwed. Learn about the price, I higly recommend it.
What would a study of this have to say? What would the evidence say? Attach or not?
The comment wasn't whether theists are more violent, but rather, can (if done...
As is, science has inescapable presuppositions scientists must overcome and in general do a great job at it. The lower disciplines are even more susceptible to this and don't' have enough competing (IMO) bodies to challenge it as fervently as it is in the scientific world.
I'm fine with...
Rrrrrrrright.....because we all know there is creed all nontheist subscribe to. Mao was an atheist but wasn't operating under any atheistic premises one can attach to him. In fact, you can't attach anything to any of them.
Unless of course, you are religious. Fair game.
All those Cartel...
It's an age-old misconception that can't seem to run its course. Certainly, they can, but it's not the same obviously.
It's a simple idea that having God commits one to a variety of things, that is unmatched in the nontheistic world.
You don't even have to be Catholic to know how serious we take the confessional. It will not even reach any judiciary body within the Catholic Church. They have no authority to change it because it can't be changed; not this.
I haven't been here recently to say for sure, but lately, politics has taken a very real impact out in the real world. So I can certainly see why this would be a concern.
But...
It's also why this should be talked about more than ever and given we have a moderation team here that can see that...
"Denver Newsroom, Jan 13, 2021 / 09:01 pm MT (CNA).- Three North Dakota state legislators introduced a bill this week that would oblige Catholic priests to violate the seal of confession in cases of confirmed or suspected child abuse, on penalty of imprisonment or heavy fines."

BTW, to my knowledge, there isn't anything in-depth as to why not female priests. I've seen this discussed in large catholic forums and it amounts to "we aren't entirely sure". There are some that make connections to the symbolic nature of the priest being married to the Church and the Church...
That's a good question.
This can be seen in a multitude of ways. One is that it flows nicely from the new direction and approach the Church decided to take after Vatican 2. No longer waiting for controversy or disagreement to ignite, but instead, engaging the world in charity and also looking...
Well, that would be useful, especially if one holds that men and women are deduced to simply the physical body. Something I don't subscribe to in the slightest; even taking into account the minority of situations that say otherwise. We're more complex (just physical differences) than that and it...
The connection to baptism will be easily lost and forgotten. Unfortunately, there exists some that will (and have) taken this as a sign of hope to what they really want...Female Priests. Even taking it down to deacon level is going to be problematic.
You can go back 15 years on this very forum and see the evolution of the term. I certainly didn't assume that someone that was pro-choice was willing to throw babies into dumpsters or somehow stop caring about other issues of human life. For many many people I know and have experienced, it was...
Precisely. :)
Most of the common world uses the term pro-life without all the baggage that may or may not be presumed.
It's more a common phenomenon to take issue with it.
