    My temple recommend interview

Yes, that's what I meant! I prefer Kathryn to Susan! I wasn't sure if you were keeping it off the forums so didn't want to say it!

    My temple recommend interview

Sorry Katz, I know this is a very old thread but it was wonderful to read. I agree with you completely, but while I have always thought this in my head I've never known how to say it! It was wonderful to see what I've been thinking written down :) Oh and I prefer your real name :)

    Question about "The Great Apostasy"

Thanks Katz, your posts are always very informative! :) just to clarify, when you say you don't believe Jesus meant what most Christians today think he meant, is that something the COJCLDS believe as a whole or your own ideas?

    Question about "The Great Apostasy"

Hi all, It's been a while since I have posted on these forums. I can't remember if it was under this name or another. A long time ago I was LDS for a short time so probably should know the answer to this but hope it's OK to ask! I've been looking into various Christian Faiths and from my...

Reasons to not believe in God? Discuss....

Here you go: Scientific Hypothesis, Theory, Law Definitions Note it says a theory can be disproven and is only valid along as there is no evidence to dispute it. Therefore it is not conclusive in the sense it can't be disproven and the answer has been found for all eternity. For example, I...

Reasons to not believe in God? Discuss....

I could probably find something, I was answering based on life experience of lab tests, lab reports, science degrees, science world etc. What's your experience with science (just curious as it helps to understand where you are coming from)?

Reasons to not believe in God? Discuss....

I meant that at this moment in time, God can neither be proven nor disproved. You cant say something will NEVER be proven or disproved as that is unscientific, there is always possibility for further findings in the future. Even things which are supposedly proven, get changed around from time to...

Reasons to not believe in God? Discuss....

Hmmm no its not, Im talking about scientific theory which is generally accepted as factual on the answer to a particular question based on strong evidence. However for whatever reason, cant be proven conclusively.

Reasons to not believe in God? Discuss....

Actually something can be truer than a theory, a scientific theory is where there isnt a definitive conclusion, but quite a bit of evidence which points in favour of a particular theory eg evolution and which is therefore accepted as fact by the science community and the general population...

Reasons to not believe in God? Discuss....

Of course there is....there are plenty of things which are "fact" as opposed to "theory". The problem with evolution on the large scale is it's impossible for humans to watch from beginning to end because of time frame vs life span. Most people accepts sciences authority though....don't you...

Reasons to not believe in God? Discuss....

No because a hypothesis is just the initial idea or question, then you conclude with accepting the hypothesis, rejecting it, or inconclusive. There are plenty of scientific experiments which turn out as rejection or inconclusive....it's still science. In science, there is a saying which goes...

Reasons to not believe in God? Discuss....

While I agree some scientific claims counters some organised religions...the age of the earth for example and six day creationists. I dont know of a science claim that disproves God exists entirely since God is neither provable nor disprovable (is thats even a word?)...we can create theories and...

Reasons to not believe in God? Discuss....

I know plenty of atheists who aren't knowledgeable in evolution. They may have heard the term, but they wouldn't be able to describe it. I think but I don't know for sure that my husband is an atheist but wouldn't use science as a relevance to disbelief. But then he has me for a wife, I accept...

Reasons to not believe in God? Discuss....

I don't know, because I don't know fully what I believe about God. I can only hope he sees what happens, understand us, can intervene (but doesn't always or in the way we expect), guides us etc etc Bible believing Christians would accept all of those. I'm not sure about other religions.

Reasons to not believe in God? Discuss....

Actually, perhaps you can tell me where in MY faith, that is the case? Where in MY faith is there a rule that I don't have to help? God has it?

Reasons to not believe in God? Discuss....

I'm finding it intriguing, how for someone who doesn't believe a God, you are putting conditions and contents of a persons faith. It's impossible to now what each individual person believes and or has faith in. You are basing your arguments on a specific religions belief system without defining...
