I live in Taiwan. If you say that it's part of China here, everyone aside from 80 year old right wing radicals will laugh at you.
Taiwan calls itself the Republic of China, but it's only because it was INVADED by the Chinese. The Taiwanese language isn't even related to Mandarin.
Racist Fascist China has border disputes with EVERY SINGLE nation that it borders, plus Ten Other Countries. Plus they claim Hawaii on the grounds that it has a majority of Asian people.
Here is a list of the countries that have territorial and border disputes with China:
Japan :: Parts...
It's just the latest fashionable conservative "outrage-du-jour". If it wasn't this they'd be whining about how black people, women, or people of the Jewish faith have "too many " rights.
Muslims only integrate superficially and then temporarily. It's called kitman.
The stories that Muslims tell between themselves is very different from the stories they tell in public. For instance up to 99% of Muslims support Shariah Law and many within that 99% support death for apostasy...
Really disappointing how PC Germany has become with regards to Islam. Disappointing because any honest student of history can tell you last time that happened, it was not good for Germany or the world:
As someone who is a straight ally, most East Asian countries are pretty abysmal for LGBTQI rights.
South Korea is homophobic due to the evangelical/Catholic Christian influence.
North Korea and China are homophobic because oppression is what they do best. Historically, members of the LGBTQI...
This is a documentary from the left-leaning ZDF station in Germany. Very soberting.
It's sad when the German teacher is horrified when she hears that for some people what Dad says about his daughter not being able to go out is more important that what the constitution says.
The expression on...
In the political subforum, I see one for Down Under, European, North American, and Middle Eastern Politics.
How about a subforum for Eastern Asia? There are a lot of events in East Asia that I feel are worth discussing as a region.
And that is why their position is precisely illogical. If they are being overrepresented then affirmative action SHOULD be working against them to bring their numbers down. If we assume that talent is equally distributed among the races, then Harvard should be about 2% Asian at most. The fact...
In Asia "waiguo ren" and its Japanese and Korean counter parts "gaijin" and "waegouk in" are intended with malice because essentially they are an attempt to separate supposed "outsiders" from the power of the dominant majority.
As such although I'm Asian myself I would say that such words are...
Here is a video from HRW (Human Rights Watch) about the human rights of the LGBT community in Japan. Japan is commonly considered a first-world country but in many social respects they lag far behind the rest of the world and are in a league with authoritarian third-world countries. Just proof...
And hypocritical. When they come over to the west they always kick up a fuss about not getting what they want. The whole nonsense about "not enough Asians are getting into Harvard" is one example, which is bull**** anyways because they're like 2% of the population but 20% of the Ivy league...
Here's a simple question:
Does Saudi Arabia allow for Hindus to practice their faith openly and freely? NO!
India on the other hand allows for you to believe what you want. However as a majority Hindu country they should have the right to determine their own laws. India has made enough...
When I lived in China, I was walking with a black friend and a truck driver literally tried to run him over.
I currently live in Taiwan and I'm constantly harassed not even because I'm non-Asian but because I believe that they should be treated equally. I've had my e-mails and FB hacked...
In my experience East Asians rank among the most racist people on the planet. Sure in the West you have neo-Nazis and the KKK and South African whites have the AWB, but those are considered extreme views. In Asia, those views are considered the norm.
Even if you're a native-born citizen, but you don't have the East Asian "look" you are discriminated against heavily.
I know people who have lived in Japan for three generations and who are still called "foreigners" while Japanese Americans who go back to visit theri fourth cousins twice...
China bans a lot of Western things too. In China, things aren't banned for being Eastern or Western, they're banned simply for the sake of banning things.
In China, oppression isn't a means to an end, oppression IS the end.
