Has a book ever changed your life?

Thinking back over it, I could say several have, for many reasons. The Dhammapada by far changed my life the most for the long journey it put me on, when I was still an agnostic youth from a skeptical raising. I saw the beauty in something higher than my immediate surroundings, in the Buddha's...

I take the end game of the myths with all their variations as essentially true. IE: that Zeus is the son of Kronos and assumed rulership of this state of things from him.

I don't post in the Pagan DIR, but in short: the Greeks used the stories to talk about the gods as they saw them. There are variations of all the stories, meaning they can only be meaningful in a spiritual and symbolic way. I for my own part wouldn't like to think the gods are entirely as...

I find myself in an interesting place

If it helps, I think Jains are trying to awaken to Ultimate Reality- like every Dharmic path I can think of right at this moment. Moksha is the end goal of Jainism and attaining Arhatship. I have always understood Brahman as the common thread running through all the Dharmic religions. As I've...

    So, who's thirsty?

I am more concerned that apparently enough Brits are not put off by the name and purchase this product. I am not sure what that says about Brits.

I am interested you'd ask. I like it primarily for it's seriousness about non-violence, and it's Anekantavada concept. Otherwise I'd just be telling you what any encyclopedia could about Jainism. I'll assume you wanted to know what Jainism is to me.

I find myself in an interesting place

I don't see myself as doing that really, but I suppose that could be perspective. I've always seen Hinduism and Jainism as pursuing the same Dharma ultimately as Buddhists do. That view hasn't changed.

    Europe’s Freedom of Speech Fail

I think free speech is a more complex issue than especially Americans consider. Do you ever consider for example that free speech has consequences? We guaranteed free speech because of the oppressive theocracies we had just come from, but democracy is always an ongoing experiment. Democracy can...

How is 'not accepting the act' a true acceptance of homosexuality?

As I stated in another thread: I think talking about all faiths in the way Baha'is do has it's problems. Furthermore, you listed no alcohol. Neither Judaism, Hinduism, or Christianity prohibit alcohol. There's no indication they ever did. With all respect, I think people would see how...
