How would it be logical that God the Father who is Spirit and doesn't have a created body, needed to put his own chromosomes (which he doesn't need or have) into God the Son?
It makes no sense. Did Adam have chromosomes? Who were his parents? Where did his chromosomes originate?
So you do not think that studying and memorizing Gods word, attending temple sessions, and having the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost would teach you all truth? Or do you want to please the followers of Islam, Confucius, Buddha and others by attempting to learn from them?
I asked...
First of all, I would not refer to a brother in Christ as high-minded. Second, if that person were a Christian, he would not be insincere in his prayers. Third, he wouldn't pray at all for an answer to something that had already been answered. If God has revealed truth to you, why would you ask...
I highlighted in red. If LDS have the "fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ" and other groups have only a "measure of truth" that non-LDS are prepared to receive, what additional truths do LDS expect to learn from Confucius, Mohammed, and Buddha?
If God tells you to do something, should you...
I misread the following quote from etherjaromomni:
I thought that he (etherjaromomni) was suggesting that the Hindus, Muslims or Buddhists could pray about the Book of Mormon. Youre right...it wont do them any good to pray without faith in Christ. But then why should a Christian pray to...
[/SIZE]How odd that you should quote verses that say nothing about God or salvation.
Matthew 25 talks about only two places(one for the sheep who are blessed of the Father and one for the goats who are cursed):
Bible, Matthew 25
31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the...
The Source of Truth is the Holy Ghost. If a non-LDS gets a different answer than the LDS gets, according to LDS teachings, it is because only worthy(obedient) baptized LDS can have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. Therefore if a Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Catholic, or Protestant is...
The OP says nothing about whether or not the LDS claim is either true or false.
You cannot assume that all that was taught by early "church fathers" was equal to scripture. Their writings were not canonized.
This, too, is off-topic. This thread is not about non-LDS doctrines. Read the OP...
The LDS doctrine of pre-existing spirits does not in any way create an idea of fairness to reward and punishment. All men are to be as holy as God is holy to live in God's Presence. Lacking that degree of holiness, all men equally deserve punishment or separation from God. This teaching is based...
Excuse me, but I did not grow up in a "theological assembly-line," but your disdain for whatever type of church you assume I grew up in, is noted.
And are those who memorize scripture to defend Christianity in error? Psalm 1:1-2 and Psalm 119:11 come to mind.
LDS teach:
“Search the...
Cutting and pasting quotes of individual writers is no different than what any author does to verify his points. This does not mean that the author has no knowledge beyond those quotes. Even Christ was known to quote writings that existed previous to his incarnation.
Matthew 4
4But he...
Repent of what, Clear? I do not refuse to repent.
Can you explain your obstinace when asked to tell me which of my statements about LDS Atonement is incorrect?
I have a family emergency. I will come back if I'm able.
LDS beliefs about trying to do better and calling it repentance? That may be what LDS teach in 2009, but that is not what Spencer W. Kimball taught. And yet, you won't come out and say that Spencer W. Kimball was wrong.
President Kimball explained this principle:
"Trying is not sufficient...
You aren't doing very well either. I answered several of your posts as well as those of other posters. I explained to you that I am easily distracted. I also explained the reason I started this thread and have asked LDS to explain where my understanding of LDS atonement is in error. For some...
Funny. I probably understand it, but no one wants to acknowledge that nor does anyone want to tell me which points I don't understand. The onus is on you.
Oh, you are LDS then. Can you tell me what points about it are wrong?
I refuse to see what? What noun does the word "this" refer to?
How can you call me obstinate? You don't even know me. As for truth, do you mean that I don't regard as truth what you regard as truth?
I'm not...
